My tip is Matty Hayden and while we are on the subject,I think that it is an absolute disgrace that it costs $650 for a ticket to attend the gala event.

The PEOPLE on the hill, the families etc should be given the opp to attend. Why not have it on stage at the SCG or Stadium Australia?

Agreed, but why would they do that when people are willing to pay 650 and they get the money.

Matt Hayden would have to be a special to get it you would think, although Warney has had a big year.

Only to give something back to the people Hourney.

And ...Yes... Warney has done well.
Hayden might not have done himself any favours with the window incident too.

Would it look hypocritical of the ACB to endow a dummy spitter? [ Thats a bit harsh of me]

Maybe Haydo can get added to the honour board depicting the smashing events in the dressing room over the years...theres been a few

i agree with you, but theres no way they're going to be willing to let people go paying for nicks, when they can get people who know SFA about cricket pay 650 and go.

That's the way of the world I'm afraid. $650 is pocket money for the Tony Greigs of the world. He thinks $1500 is a fair price for a crappy cricket bat!!

Asking these people for $650 is like asking me to buy a $2 raffle ticket. We may scream for Australia in the outer, but the toffs in the corporate boxes own the game.

It's a black-tie event, for God's sakes!!!

You can't expect to get the Champers, the lobsters and the top-line entertainment for nothing. The fact is, there are people who will pay.

At least people CAN go to the AB Medal. The Brownlow is invite-only.

The 1st time Nine advertised the 'Captain Grumpy Medal' tickets, the price was $599.Two days later [next game covered by 9] it was $650.

Is there anyone who doesn't think Hayden will win it?

Warne maybe half a chance?

Ricky Ponting has been in fearsome form too, but probably let himself down in this series.

My guess Haydo from Warnie, Punter and Langer.
No idea who'd win the one-day one. Maybe Lehmann, with a few ones and twos due to his bowling, and the odd three when he scored runs.

i'm tipping warney at this stage to win it. but im going to do a bit more research because i plan to put a wager on the outcome.

i think we start with the 3 tests v SAF, 3 v Pak, 5 v Eng.

i will estimate IMO the 3-2-1's and see who comes up trumps.

one dayers i dont seem to be as accurate picking the MOTM, particularly because good fielding doesnt show up in the scorecards. i mean who on earth would have picked mark taylor as man of the match in his first one dayer as captain after making 9?

my early predictions:

1st test v SAF:
3- AC Gilchrist (3)
2- GD McGrath (2)
1- SK Warne (1)

2nd test v SAF
3- SK Warne (4)
2- AC Gilchrist (5)
1- RT Ponting (1)

3rd test v SAF
3- SK Warne (7)
2- AC Gilchrist (7)
1- ME Waugh (1)

1st test v Pak
3- SK Warne (10)
2- RT Ponting (3)
1- GD McGrath (3)

2nd test v Pak
3- SK Warne (13)
2- ML Hayden (2)
1- AJ Bichel (1)

3rd test v Pak
3- SK Warne (16)
2- RT Ponting (5)
1- AC Gilchrist (8)

1st test v Eng
3- ML Hayden (5)
2- RT Ponting (7)
1- GD McGrath (4)

2nd test v Eng
3- SK Warne (19)
2- RT Ponting (9)
1- AJ Bichel (2)

3rd test v Eng
3- B Lee (3)
2- DR Martyn (2)
1- AC Gilchrist (9)

4th test v Eng
3- JL Langer (3)
2- SCG MacGill (2)
1- JN Gillespie (1)

5th test v Eng
3- AC Gilchrist (12)
2- AJ Bichel (4)
1- B Lee (4)

in which tests do you suggest?

he got 122 in the 1st test v SAF, but gilly got 204, martyn got 133, mcgrath got 8 wickets tossup IMO between warne and martyn for the last vote there.

his next hundred was in sharjah (119). some people would give him 3 here, he was after all man of the match, but i gave him 2 votes, because warnie did well too. 4-11 and 4-13 in both innings

he got 2 hundreds in brisbane... easy 3 points there

next hundred was in melbourne (102) Langer got 250, macgill got a 5- in the second innings and really wrapped things up, gillespie got a 4- followed by a 3- and bowled extremely fiercely that test. spose hayden might squeeze a point or two from some panellists in this test, but still nowhere near enough to pip warnie i think

My tips:
Hayden
Warne
Ponting
Gilchrist

Ricky Ponting to win the Alan Border Medal closely followed by Matthew Hayden, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath. Adam Gilchrist should also get some votes there too.

actually on second thought... how exactly is the AB medal decided?? from memory, the test player of the year and the ODI player are done on 3-2-1's and the AB medal tallies up votes from players, media reps etc.

Pretty much I think. Votes from tests are scaled up compared to the one dayers but I wouldn't have a clue how they manage that.
