Monday 13 April 6:00pm EST

After an early blip in game 1, South Arica have continued their recent dominance over the Aussies in the shorter form of the game with comfortable victories in games 2 and 3. Australia's top order continues to struggle with only Brad Haddin of the top 4 managing to pass 50 so far in this series, with 53 in game 1. David Hussey's spot would be in jeopardy but with his possible replacement for this game not selected for the Pakistan series it would seem he will play. Finding runs to support the impressive Callum Ferguson will be a key to forcing a game 5 showdown in Newlands

Geeves joins the injured fast bowler's brigade with Shane Harwood called over from IPL duty to join the squad. Ben Laughlin should get the nod after a good game 2 but stranger things have happened. Australia will need to find a bowler to support Mitchell Johnson who has been the lone hand so far with South Africa seemingly having the wood over Bracken who averages just 39 against them.

For South Africa an unchanged lineup to the winning team is expected.

Great decision this by Punter....

Laughlin would have loved this pitch. Boggles the mind why a 35 year old would be playing instead

To develop Laughlin with the chance of playing in a series against the best ODI team in the world.

Why blame punter for choosing the squad, when he doesn't chose the squad?

Pretty easy logic to follow why Harwood was selected for this match.

A game off, im leaning towards dropping him for good. Since our summer he hasn't looked like getting batsmen out and has got a lot of his wickets at the death when batsmen are going the tonk.

He doesnt have any penetration with the new ball, granted he can bowl tightly but we need wicket taking ability from our opening bowlers. 2 wickets in so far in the series isnt what we are after.

You need to be economical, and Nathan Bracken is just that. I'd prefer Bracken to the majority of the other bowlers in Australia.

Bracks is just in a form slump, he'll come good.

SA's bowling was really ragged last game, especially in the latter overs.

We chased over 320 here a few years back against SA.

Granted, but i'm just saying we have done it before, obviously we are going to need a significant Ponting innings. A hundred even.

But we were 80/4 last game and got to 260, with a lot of those runs scored in the last few overs.

I think we are a chance.

Special Agent Utah
13 Apr 2009, 21:48
Easy to say we scored a lot of those runs in the last few overs last game LTD but in reality it was equalivent to junk time IMO.

I never thought we were in with a chance to pinch it and i dare say Sth Africa were thinking along similar lines.

You are always a chance but runs on the board is always good. In trouble here IMO.

Confident of chasing this because a completely different line up did it a few years back? How stupid can you be to make a comment like that?

If you want to use the past lets use the recent past. Saffas destroyed Aussies in the last game to the point where the score board favored Aussies A LOT. Aussies look AGAIN like they are already down the barrel of a big loss.

You never know miracles can happen but if anyone here really think Aussies have a chance in hell of chasing this with there current form batsmen then you are delirious
