hiya Des

When ya gunna be back in business. Why do we need other than freemail to access the new board as I thought the reason was Trolls and every other board needed a valid email address,

Is your defininition of a troll someone who doesnt agree with you ?

Why did you allow the comment to go unchecked that all message boards require other than hotmail and yahoo etc to be able to post - seems a bit hard on those who cant afford to pay for their accounts. But then life wasnt meant to be easy was it?

RWO will be back up when

a) the current host decides they'll fix it, or
b) we switch over to the new host

Either way, RWO should be back up by the end of next week with any luck.

My definition of a troll is most certainly not "someone who doesn't agree with me". If you follow my board moderation history on RWO and here on BigFooty, you'll note that I have been pretty lenient, probably more than I should. I don't mind people arguing, as long as they stick to arguing the topics. It's only when it gets libelous or personal that I disagree with the posting.

As for the email addresses, it's just one of a few things I'm going to try out in an attempt to ensure that people are only able to register properly, ie: they're not just starting multiple accounts/personas, or re-registering after being banned. I realise that this may not actually work, but I'm willing to give anything a go.

I also realise that not everyone may have access to ISP accounts, so I left the invitation open for people to contact the mods directly to be registered. I don't think it's too much trouble for people to shoot off a quick email to obtain registration.

Any other questions?

From my experience on RWO and most definitely here on the Sydney board, Des has been a very liberal moderator and only stepped in when things have started to go out of hand. I can only remember that happening once here on the Sydney board, so I definitely believe that presumption's wrong.

I think you'll find that I always play fair (unless of course I'm dealing with Charlie, this is purely for entertainment value)
