I'd love to find out how many marks we've taken I50 this season, I reckon we'd be one of the worst teams so far this year.

It's a worry when your forwards can't take a grab I50 - having to continually rely on mids kicking goals or from opportunistic play.

Obviously today our marking inside 50 was seriously compromised by our horrible delivery, yet we won't be able to win games of footy if we continue to get <10 marks I50.

It seems every time a player leads their opponent is right on their tails, I seriously can't remember the last time I saw an Essendon forward block for another.

is McPhee currently the limpest, weakest, most insipid contested mark taker in the competition at the moment?

Doesn't help when:

Your coach can't structure the forward line right.
Your giving games to Scott Lucas who isn't able to play at the moment.
We had McVeigh playing one out in the goal squre for periods and was clearly very underdone.
Mcphee is in the forward line
We only have 1 genuine contested marking option who is being sent from the goalsqure to the bench to the wing almost then back halfway into the 50.
GUmbleton and Neagle haven't come on like we hoped.

I'd say so ;)

Although, have you watched Jason Blake from the Saints play?

8 marks inside 50 vs 16 to us this week.

45 marks inside 50 for all four games. (9, 12, 16 and 8)

Yeah Between Monfries, Lucas and McPhee the amount of contested marks across the half forward line has been well below par .With Neagle and Gumbleton on ice for the time being, dare i say i am begnning to wonder whether we are really missing Laycock... Let's face it, he is a good (ish!) grab and he and Hille rotating from ruck to forward line gives us a height advantage over most backlines.

Never and I mean NEVER say we want Laycock back

Monfries can take a good mark, shame most of them are on the wing.

it doesnt help when the ball continually either lands 10m in front of the leading forward of 5m behind the leading forward.

numerous times today our forward had there defenders done cold but the delivery was shocking.

To be fair the delivery was poor today.
