HAWKS TAKE THE DOUBLE: Box Hill Hawks coach Brendon Bolton says the days of clubs having one captain have passed. “Football teams have so many different personalities that I don’t think it’s right to entrust it to one single player,” Bolton said, explaining his decision to go with two skippers this season, Steve Kenna and Lukas Markovic. “Steve and ‘Marko’ are two totally different types and bring us leadership in different ways.
The way I see it, they can bounce off each other, complement each other. One will have close relationships with some players where the other can’t and vice-versa. I think that combination fits really well with a young group.” Bolton said Kenna and Markovic were both “dying” to take the captaincy and pleased to share the role. It’s the first time in Box Hill’s history that it’s had dual captains.
