With Steve Waugh likely to play on, who would you rather have in your team?

Love, only because he's younger

Lehmann - You don't average 58 in first class cricket by accident. Give him an extended run and he will perform. Accusations of 'flat track bully' were made against Hayden for many years also.
Is Steve Waugh likely to play on?
If he doesn't both will play.
Martin Love.
Performed in the Tests against England, Fatty Lehmann didn't.

Lehmann is probably a better player than Love, but at 33 he probably has 2 years left, where as Love has 7-8. Michael Clarke, on the other hand, probably has 14 years left in him so he could be a candidate.

helps being good square of the wicket and having a home ground such as the adelaide oval.
Love. Surname says it all.
Boof is a racist prick anyway and that might cause a bit of friction in the West Indies. :o

Preferably both should play with Waugh retiring. ie. batting order of:
Hayden
Langer
Love
Ponting
Lehmann
Martyn
But if only one can be picked - BOOF!
PS Frosty, he is not racist!

Quite correct, but you are out of context. Rather than split these two words up and scrutinise them separately, it is actually when you use the two together that you have an entirely different meaning.
Calling someone 'black' is not racist. Calling someone a 'c***' is not racist and isn't that bad a thing as it isn't discriminatory. Calling someone a 'black c***' though is just pure racism. It implies that the person or people in question are of a lesser standard because they are black.

Why not ...
Mark Higgs
OR
Micheal Clarke
why not Micheal Hussey or Micheal Dighton?
seriously, Love by a whisker, and if S.Waugh goes, Lehmann to bat at 5.

Well put.
I can't understand why people are so desperate to maintain Boof is "no racist". He may not be a klansman but clearly that statement is obviously a racist remark. I thought his lawyers comment that DL didn't have a racist bone in his body was a laughable remark from a supposedly educated guy.
THere seems to be more emphasis on avoiding the term 'racist' than actually addressing the issue. Being a racist is not some plague which you catch as soon as someone names you one. It's a state of mind that exists in the majority of human beings in various degrees.
I think Lehmann himself has handled it well. He seems genuinely humbled and apologetic and is not making excuses for himself.
i dont' think boof is racist at all either,
They are black in his anger he called them ****s
He was just picking out an obvious attribute, example if it was a fat person who got him out he would of said stupid fat ****
if it was a toothless bloke he would of said, toothless ****s
if they were unemployed he would of said unemployed ****s
i think we get to precious with racism sometimes, i would be more worried if boof didn't shake hands with them cause they were black, or publicly said he wouldn't play against black players, or if he wouldn't coach a black kid at a clinic, lets not get precious, boof said the wrong thing but to lable him racist is bull****, we all say stupid things in the heat of the moment. People just love a scandal

I agree, he just picked out something obvious that they were and put the word c unt on the end of it. Obviously c unt is way harsh so the phrase should be not that he is racist but that he is abusive (which he didn't actualy say to them anyway) agreed that if they were stated on their hair colour or any other thing about them there wouldn't be a huge issue. They have black skin, he was right, he should not hacve called them c unts however.

Just because they are actually black is no justification whatsoever for the comment made.

Disagree, they just happen to be a black person who lehmann think is a ****. he didn't even say it to them so really there isn't much of an issue.

I don't think so at all.
If I call someone a foureyed ****er I am certainly not implying that all people with glasses are ****ers, but this particular one, is.
It may be ignorant and abusive, but that is the entire point of abusing someone isn't it?
An adjective is just a descriptive term, no use reading more into it than maybe there to suit your own interpretation.
I don't know what he meant, and really don't care, it is a non-issue as far as I am concrened. Either crack down on all abuse, or none at all. Sectioning out certain things you can't be abused about is asking for trouble.
(Verbal abuse obviously)

Yeh i guess r u right there. well done.
who is to say that boof didn't cop a spray when he got out, he is a bit of a chubber and he got run out, add two and two together and you get four. Walks into the change room after copping a spray, what is he to say, we have not even explored the avenue that he copped the ****, imagine if it was you, your playing for your country, you get run out in a crucial time, you cop a spray from the opposition maybe about your figure, you get to the changeroom after a long walk and you want to release your frustrations.
Would of been racism if he called them those sri lankan c u nts.
God i know when i have played sport you often release your frustrations in ways you would never act in normal life, thatis the nature of sport, that is what happens when people are passionalte and proud of what they do and who and what they do it for. Some players throw their bat, i know some players to get to the changeroom and use every expletive under the sun, i know others that then will sit and snipe at batsmen in the next innings. Lehmann was releasing frustration that is all, to be calling him a racist means you don't understand the nature of sport.

It is an unwritten rule that sledging is okay, but racial sledging is crossing the line. Are you guys saying that Winmar/Long and co have got it wrong and they are whingers? I'm sorry but discriminating or victimising someone because of their race is a touchy issue and the unwritten rule is that there is no place for it in sport.

Yes actually i do think Winmar is a whinger. I remember a few years ago Sam Newman dressed up as Winmar as he often dresses up as ppl and painted his face dark brown to resemble his skin colour. A bit of harmless fun most of us would think. But Winmar unfortunately took great offence to it and demanded a public apology and all, which is what happened.
Now Sam Newman does a lot of stupid things, but what he did was not at all racist. He was just resembling Winmar who's skin is darker. How is that seen as racist is beyond me.
I never liked Winmar anyway, but as for Long i have great respect for him and i don't believe he is a whinger.
