i thought the crows played fairly ordinary, as did carlton. Crows didnt have many attacking options...Welsh only had 10 touches, Robran kicked 1.3, Jarman didnt have much of the ball, Perrie did nothing. Crows forward line does look suspect without a focal point there at least...Bassett was your highest scorer and he's usually the full back (but is known to play forward for Norwood)
Mcleod played well...as did Ladhams...i also think Shir looks fairly promising. It was dissapointing to see the crows surrender there lead twice in the last quarter...it wasnt a very skillful game, but it is early

any actual crows fans wanna comment on the game?

I wasn't expecting the Crows to win at Optus Oval - our record there is abysmal. And to lose after leading by four goals at one stage is frustrating.

The difference was Carlton's big men. Allan and Porter took about 13 marks between them, compared to 3 between Clarke and Biglands!
Their guys dropped back into our 50 metres, which effectively spoiled our chances of scoring. The Crows have to come up with a way to score goals, I'm sick of this rubbish about the team getting the ball into the 50m area more times than other teams, blah, blah, blah, but ending up losing.

Positives were Ladhams, Crowell, Shir and McGregor. I'm looking forward to finally seeing my team play at home, after seeing the Power getting all the homeground privileges for the last two weeks, lol

I basically only saw the last half and i was pretty much laughing at the fact that every single time i basically saw the ball fly into the Crows 50m arc...Christou would just pick it up and kick it straight back out. That would of been frustrating. I think you play western bulldogs this week...that would be a tough game as well

While disapointed in the end result, I thought we were able to take some really positive things out of the game yesterday.

We were missing key players, hart, johnson, riccutio, richardson. Our younger players really stood up I thought. Stenglein played really well as did Ladhams and Bode, they all did some really good things. Crowell and McGregor made a good contest in the backlines and played well, even Gallagher managed to play well and he even kicked to our players! Clarke showed some major improvements and Bassett made a terrific contest at full forward, not bad for a full back!

Sorry guys, but I can only be optomistic, we tried hard all day and triped at the final siren, but I think there are some real positives to come out of this game.

I can't wait to see them on Friday night!

Go Crows in 2001!

Hey guys,

I thought that you guys played pretty damn well - were very good at moving the ball through the middle and finding a loose running player with an accurate handball - without over handballing - something Carlton could learn from. You were winning the ruck until the second half too - not really around the ground - but until Allan modified where he was jumping from you did get first use of the ball from the centre.

If you check the Carlton board (Ant especially) I had said that I really did think we'd win by about 50 pts - given your awful record at OO and your poor form last week.

I disagree about the players missing bit being a factor because we obviously had them too (Kouta, Ratten, SOS, even Lappin is crucial to us) - and I dunno how you can call that Richardson guy a key player - let him actually play a bit of AFL first - he'll realise its a bit diff. to the SANFL.

Still, Optus is meant to be a real fortress for us so I think you did well.

Cheers,

Blues 2001!!

Blues 2001: - it was a pretty even game. You won it with your tall marking power around the ground, we lost it by letting it rebound out of our forward 50 too easily.

But a pretty even contest, all things considered. Optus oval is not a happy hunting ground for us and to do as well as we did wasn't too bad. It was disappointing to lose it just in the last few minutes, but it was really the third quarter where we let you in.

Oh, Macca19, as you say, Crows lost the lead twice in the last quarter, but then again, so did Carlton!

Do try to be just a little objective, it just makes you look like a troll fishing for anything bad to say that you can possibly think of. This was clearly a game with a see-sawing lead, don't even try to pretend otherwise.

Go and post rubbish on your own board.

Blues2001,

I laughed when I read in the Adelaide papers today that the Crows were missing key players like Ricciuto, Hart and Richardson http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/confused.gif I don't regard him as
a key player.

I agree as well that both teams had key players out so things were pretty balanced in that department.

Macca,

I too noticed the ease with which Christou in particular brought the ball out of our 50. Where were our forward line crumbers???
What you said was pretty much right, but if we can bring the ball in quicker to our forward line it might give a players a better chance one on one compared to the forward line congestion on Saturday.

As for the Western Bulldogs, they'll be tough as I think they are just about full strength, but their forward line and defence aren't particularly tall and I reckon we can match it there. The key is the midfield where they are strong and everytime we've lost to them in recent years the Doggies have dominated in close in the centre. Having said that, the midfield is our strength (probably our only one) and at home in front of fans for the first time this year, I hope we can get the win.

Hey, if you cant handle the truth about the game then go **** off. It took me to actually post about the bloody game. Crows were 5 goals up, and lost, simple as that, they had no forward line at all, simple as that...dont try and make it otherwise. Try and be objective crows.ok. It wasnt a seesawing lead, crows were 5 goals up and surrended the lead, only in the last quarter did it see saw.

I put it down to the lack of any big man in the forward lines. Robran was at Half Back most of the game and the only fairly tall player i can remember in the forward line was Bassett. At least with Richo there you have a focal point to concentrate on

If the lead changes several times in the match, Crows had a good period early, Carlton had a good period in the third, the game was swinging back and forth, and was in doubt right up to the last 20 seconds or so, please define how it was NOT a see-saw match?

Seriously Macca, you are way out of line here. This board is "a board for the fans of Adelaide Crows". If you want to post your garbage, go for it on the main board by all means. Piss off this board you juvenile twerp.

Only a purebread idiot post derision on an opposition supporters board, then tells a supporter to piss off! From their own board!

Crikey, what a dipshit!

Sorry Crows.ok...i apologise for writing my opinion on the game on your board. As that is all it was...an opinion, it was not an attempt at trolling or an attempt to start an argument...im sick of arguments. However, my opinion is, it was not a see-saw game. Maybe if someone else would of posted something about the game i wouldnt of written anything, but nobody did. Apologies once again

Macca, I was going to post about the game on Saturday, but ran out of internet time, so when I arrived here on Sunday the first post I saw was yours. You managed to get in first, but it wasn't for lack of me wanting to post. It's good to have friendly rivalry here, but it's a bit hot when Port Power supporters tell us to ***** off from own board!!! You're the second one to do that. When I occasionally pop over to your Board, I don't see Crows fans telling you guys what to do.
