Did anyone else watch the top 10 as voted by the commentators at the start of the telecast today? It was the biggest load of crap I have ever seen.

Being only 17 I can't comment on the best moments of cricket (was it only Australian summers?) for the past 25 years but blind freddy could have done a better job that.

How on earth Warne's hattrick, cleaning up the english tail, is better than McGrath's hattrick, three world class batsman and his 300th wicket, is beyond me  I wonder how much was weighted on Bill Lawry's opinion there

I only saw the countdown of the last few choices but the whole competition was dubious from the start. The most dubious choice was having Allan Border's 11 000th run against South Africa in 1993/94 as one of the 'magical moments' when it should've been his scoring of his 10 000th run against the West Indies in 1992/93, surely a more notable achivement.

well i actually do think warne's hatrick was more memorable. even though glenn took the better wickets, i just think the aura surrounding that moment, and when boon caught it, was far more exciting than when mcgrath took his. also tubby and warney in the comm box for mcgrath's hatrick (hacks) didnt help.

No, that was when he overtook Sunny Gavaskar's Test runs record (10 122). He reached 10 000 runs against the West Indies at Sydney in 1992 and looked certain to break Gavaskar's record during the Australian Test summer, but a series of low scores put paid to that.

How did Steve Waugh's catch behind the side-screen rate?

It wasn't in the Top three is as much as I know.

However, as was pointed out by a former umpire a few years ago, it should've been a six as a fieldsman behind the sightscreen was considered outside the field of play.

but he had full control of the ball, hence out. he could have stopped running if he chose to.

Anyone got the full list? - I missed it.

How about we add a few suggestions for "magic moments" that were omitted from the KFC list? Personally I thought that Mark Taylor's 4 catches in a non-final one day game in the early 90s was a bit lucky to be included. Surely the last 25 years has offered some greater highlights??

My noms are.....

1] John Dysons catching Sylvester Clark in the outfield at the SCG early 80s
2] Allan Lamb smashing Bruce Reid for 23 runs in the last over to win a game in the mid 80s(?) - probably not an Aussie enough highlight but a ripper none the less
3] D K Lillee going through the Windies top order late on the first day of the boxing day test 1981
4] (admittedly out of left field) Peter "Sounda" Sleep trapping Phil Edmunds (?) in front lbw in the dying overs of the 5th test match at the SCG circa 1987 to give Australis a rare win vs the Poms prior to the shift in Ashes dominance.
...[Help me out with some dates and names please Wagstaff]

Surely there must be some other good ones?....

What about the Test in Adelaide when Mcdermott and Tim May almost got Australia home against the Windies when they were at their peak.
Kim Hughes century against the windies at the mcg the day Lillee bowled Richards on the last ball of the day.

A couple of Derek Randall's catches in the late '70's early '80's had to be seen to be believed....

Yeah - he took some beauties. So did ex WA and Australian batsman Mike Velletta. They should show the classic catches of years gone by on ch9. Surely they could spin it into some sort of new competition.

Agree. I remember the old 'Looks like another Schwepps Classic Catch' - a few years later they also had Blewett diving for a catch and he dug up half the turf.

They also used to have the Toyota Banner competition where you had to put the toyota logo in the banner.
