Another season, another injury plagued squad of Dons. While this is frustrating I think our fortune may pick up in the second half of the year.

With the Hawks, Saints and Cats all coming up in the next month, full squad or not, we are staring down the barrel of a tough month and realistically will be 4 and 6 at the completion of rd 10.

Looking through the list of our injured players aside from the obvious long termers we have the following players coming back in the next month or so; Fletch, Reimers, Skipworth, Hurley, Daniher, McVeigh, Welsh and Prismall.

Add to this list a rejuvenated Lucas (hopefully) and the boys have a decent crack at making a good run through to the end of the season and fingers crossed end up with 10 or 11 wins for the year.

Games that we can possibly get up in to add to our 3 wins are;

rd 9- Richmond

rd 11- Crows @ Docklands

rd 12- Demons

rd 13- Blues

rd 14-Pies

rd 17- Tigers

rd 18- Eagles @ Subi

rd 19- Lions @ G

rd 21-Freo @ Subi

Having made this list I do not expect we will win all of these but these are the games that we should have a crack in, especially if our injury woes ease up later in the season.

I don't think our injuries this year are as bad as last year. We still have a core group (Ryder, Stanton, Watson, Lloyd etc) that are playing most games.
I think we can get to double figure wins this year which will be a good outcome, add one more top ten pick into the side and hopefully we'll be playing finals next year if we don't get there this year.

Light at the end of the tunnel? I don't really see that as a positive thing.
It reminds me of death. "Go to the light Essendon" :(

I've been happy with the bombers so far this year, realisticly we should be 4 and 2. I like the new look of Lovett, Dempesy and Ryder. Reckon we might finish 8-10th this year. Finals definetly on the agenda next year

I think it would be naive to think when these players get back on the park there won't be other players taking their positions on the injury list.

It is the who, how many and how long that is unknown. Lets just hope it doesn't impact our spine too much, it has already taken enough of a battering.

If you can see light at the end of the tunnel, then you can see some signs of hope in the future, though things are difficult at the moment.

I agree and think McVeigh is one that is a worry as far as injuries are concerned. Having said that, speculation on future injuries is a waste of time and something to be dealt with when they occur, which they inevitabley will.

"Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way"

The main positive I see here is that blokes like Hooker, Bellchambers, Zaharakis etc. will be 10-20 games ahead of where they would be if we didn't have these injuries. Reimers is probably 2 years ahead because of the extended run he got last year, and I hope that Zaka and Daniher get the chance to play themselves into some stellar form and become best 22 players, rather than potential future best 22 players, in the same way that Reimers did. If that makes sense.

The massive responsibility, coupled with no demand for results, can only help the likes of Pears, Hurley and Daniher as well.
