Sadly, only too true QT, Power had the better game plan, the better team, better skills and the greater belief in their team mates and themselves. It just seemed the Power were better organised around the packs, they just knew when to be and where, taking the ball away time and again with ease, which their superior skills turned into numerous goals. Strangely it was Port's smaller forwards causing us the more grief on a beautiful day, with Tredrea and Cornes being controlled but Wanganeen was especially damaging. The delivery to him all day was superb and he managed to take every half chance which is the sign of a very classy champion.

For us I thought Vards was good first game back, while Goodwin, Clarke, Edwards and even Shirley were the other reasonably good contributors. Roo was not in good form but his loss to injury didn't help the cause. We're just a team down on confidence and lacking the skills. Looking at the squads, Power is just a more even team with plenty of options. Each and every player knows their role and fulfills it well.

I don't beieve all is lost however for the Crows, as an Adelaide fan I'll look at the positives and realise that these young blokes we're playing will get better with time and more experience in big games. The additions hopefully of Johnson, Burton, Eccles and Jarman in the next couple of games will also give us a bit of a boost, though I concede the finals are out of our reach (even at this early stage).

As for the umpires, I was baffled on many occasions as to their decisions, which went both ways. Their consistency was terrible, a Wangas free kick for in the back in the 3rd quarter was followed minutes later by a play on decision when the same thing happened to Vardy in the Adelaide forward line. And there was the McLeod 50m penalty in the last quarter, irrelevant as it was. It's a bad sign when a free kick is paid and no one knows who it's to and what it's for, as happened many times on Sunday.

Looks like you an welcome Vardy back, he played pretty well considering it was his first game at any level for a long time. With a bit of match time under his belt, he will only get better too.

Yeah vardy played alright. He needs to learn how to control his anger and frustration. He goes off the boil too much if things dont go his way and he wont stand back in yelling at the umpire for 5 minutes or whack his opponent one. I just loved how he gave the Port cheersquad the bird, and then Port went on and kicked 3 or 4 goals!!

Port were OK. No more than that, just OK. Crows were very poor.

No sign yet of any improvement over last year for Crows. Playing like this Crows will not get anywhere this year. Not a good outcome for a lot of people. At this rate there will be a lot of disappointed fans. Crows definately need to do better than they are at present.

I love how crows fans are saying we just played "ok". WE flogged the crows..we scored 23 goals, without the influence of tredrea, cornes dew and cockatoo, and with no lockwood. Crows were under pressure all day, they spent 5 minutes trying to get the ball up forward, under pressure all the time...where as Port usually got it down forward with ease. We won by 65 points...any team that wins by 65 points is better than 'ok'

Regarding "any team that wins by 65 points is better than 'ok' " ... I wish it were so.

But unfortunately it just isn't so.

Port were OK. Crows were very poor. Thats how Port won by 65 points. Unfortunately Crows didn't give you a contest.

Hate to say it, but IMO that was Crows form. Dreadful.

You have confuse me here Crows.ok. What are you trying to say?, are you trying to say that the Crows let us win by 65 points or are trying to say Port could of played better and won by more.

Chris,

I'm trying to say that Port even in winning by 11 goals did not show truly good form. Crows made them look good.

Had Port been playing at premiership standard (say as good as bombers) then Port would have won by more, yes. Over 100 points would have been the margin.

Crows form in that game was well below par. Crows have played some shocker games in their time, and that one surely rates right up amongst them. Truly dreadful.
