View Full Version : Graham Manou just hit the ING sign.
Graham Manou is $50 000 richer after hitting the ING sign after a huge off drive over mid off.

not a bad booty, considering the runners up for the ING cup will pocket $40,000
Team fund or take the money and run?

Considering the way Manou threw his wicket away a few minutes later, does he deserve it?

$50,000? I remember when Steve Waugh hit the sign he got about 3 times that amount!
South Australia were very poor today, or maybe WA suprised me after a shakey season.
so what does the list look like now of those who have hit the merc/ing sign?

A bit of both. I've already started a thread about SA's performance today but I was impressed with the way WA went about their work today. They have a strong batting and bowling lineup and in my mind would be the favourites to take out the one-day title this season.

What do you mean today !!!!!. I suppose at least the other 2 occassions they werent on national TV. That was embarrassing today. I have seen grade clubs here in Melbourne that would beat the Redbacks. I would hasten to say we have seen the last of Messrs Johnson, Vaughan, Ad****, and Young (and thank GOD !!!!)

Can't remember any others.

The odds are in favour of a big cleanout, especially as all those players you have mentioned have been around for several seasons and have had plenty of opportunities to establish themselves.
Some of their domestic records are so bad you wonder how they still get a game - Jeff Vaughan averages less then 15 with the bat after 23 matches, surely he wouldn't get too many more opportunities.

Shane Lee,Steve Waugh,Brad Haddin & Graham Manou have done it.There was also a WA player [I think]on the list shown on ch9 today.
Steve Waugh's was worth about $140,000

It's funny that three of the 5 have happened at the WACA, which was before redevelopment one of Australia's larger grounds.

Your right. I would have thought the WACA would have been one of the hardest grounds to hit the sign. North Sydney Oval on the other hand would be an easier target.

Doesn't a large tree over hang the sign at one end of North Syd ground ? This might have an effect.
The WACA is more bouncie,so its easier to get a big hit.

Shane Lee's was the funniest. He straight drove it at Manuka Oval, and you could hear him over stump-cam scream "Hit The Sign!!" It went thud into the sign and everyone erupted into a stream of 'whoo-hoos!'.
Most exciting thing that ever happened during an ING cau match featuring the Canberra comets.
