View Full Version : clean up their act
two times this week i have gone down 2 whitten oval 2 see training and both time the training session that has be advertised on the web site and on one of the days advertised in the paper has not been on. In the herald sun last sunday it had writen training 10:30 mon the web site had 10:00 the session wasnt on and i wasnt the only person who had turned up, same thing happened 2day the training session times changed from 10:00 to 8 or 9. I wonder if the club really wants any supporters to show coz i no im going 2 be lucky to go again. I think supporters deserve more then that.

Angi, I went down there myself this morning at 11am with very excited kids expecting get a few autographs and see the last hour of training. Pretty pi$$ed off myself.
I went there as well and let me tell you i wasnt very happy.Im sick of the club doing this. I dont think they really want the supporters to watch the boys train cos if they did they wouldnt change the training times all the time without letting everyone no.

Direct these complaints to Damien Glass - the man responsible for notifying media and public of Bulldogs information.

I agree with you all, our club is trying its hardest to get more supporters to sign as members, but by doing things like this how are they going to get those supporters to sign up?
I went about a month ago to a session that was supposed to be at 8am, Mel and i arrived there at 8am to find no training, so i know how Mel would feel and i was going there today until she msged me to say they had changed it again, something needs to be said.
A few of us should ring Damien Glass and say we were there and were not happy to find training had changed on Monday morning, start his week of wonderfully???

Same thing happened to me today. A couple of weeks ago I went to a weekday morning training session and all the gates were locked. Havent seen the boys train at all this year but I've been down to the footy ground three times lucky I only live around the corner from the ground.

A big hello to Peter who said he would check out the BigFooty Bulldogs board for the first time today. Peter came down from Bendigo on Saturday morning with his very excited family to watch the Bulldogs train and to buy two family memberships for his and his mates family. I met a very angry Peter outside the locked Whitten Oval gates at 11am where i myself took my two boys to do the same thing, watch training and renew my memberships. We went inside the club and spoke to the great moustachio behind the bar who told us that we had missed training and they had changed the training time during the week. The membership department was not open so we were not even able to buy memberships, open between 9am and 4.30pm weekdays the great moustachio thought. Could you imagine if that happened at Collingwood, Big Eddie would have someones head on a plate. Do they really deserve members, geez it`s disheartening when supporters are treated like this year after year. Well at least you have the Bendigo Bombers Pete, nice to meet you mate.

I had similar experience. Sometime before Christmas, I went to Western Oval on a Saturday 1. to renew my mebership 2. to see the boy training starting from 8:00 am as listed in the club website. I got there about 8:10 AM to learn that 1. the membership department does not open on Saturday 2. the training changed to 10:00 AM. I had other things to do after 10:00AM so could not wait and left and was really p***ed off.
Well I hope that the powers that be are made aware of all of this, as it's obviously not just a one off occurance. AND I hope that when they are made aware of it they do something about it. Disillusioned supporters aren't going to go out of their way to try and get others to join up. I saw a piece in the paper the other day about the Doggies targeting the Vietnamese community, which is really great, but they also need to address the situation of disgruntled supporters. I bet they wouldn't like headlines such as this: "DOGGIES LOSE THOUSANDS OF MEMBERS BECAUSE THE CLUB DIDN'T CARE ENOUGH."

Welcome Peter:
It will be good if we can get another Bendigo Bulldog supporter on this board ;)
I lived there for a few years and it was a great place.
This might sound a little like a Monday morning Quarterback talking but when you are travelling any sort of distance to see training it is best to contact the club a day or two prior to confirm the times/place.
To all the people who missed out on seeing the boys train, please do not give up on the membership. Suggest that all those who were inconvienienced by the changing of the training time contact Damien Glass at the club. I will call him myself on Tuesday morning but it will help if others do it as well. I will also write to Smorgo and suggest he visit this site occasionally to get an idea of his supporters frustrations with the lack of common sense displayed by the club at times.

Does anyone remember the time when The Great Smorgo himself actually posted on the Bulldogs official forum (when they had one) a couple of seasons ago? We took a bit of convincing that it really was him but it was.
I intend to compile an email of all these posts (if no one minds) and I am going to send them to the club.
I want our club to be the best in EVERY way!!!

Good idea curly5. When they read the email they might actually think of the fans 1st and do something bout all this training and stuff.

Well said Curly, I remember Smorgo would often visit the site.
I have just written to Damian Glass and suggest that others should do the same. It is all very well for the club to target the members to join up however, they also need to get their own house in order for it to be a success.
You can all write to the club via dogs@westernbulldogs.com.au

Some clubs don't even bother putting training times up, but the Dogs have gone over the top by announcing all these times two months in advance (probably so some slacker doesn't have to keep replacing the times every week on the net). Things are always going to change, especially when clubs are going interstate tomorrow.
The current official sites for all clubs really lack decent updates. I would've thought there might be a story about Open Family and the Scud dropping in last week to Whitten Oval? Something about the Asian membership campaign?
This isn't the first time the Dogs have had the wrong times. If you want to feel sorry for anyone think of the players, wouldn't they prefer to train in front of a few supporters?
I sent the email. Wonder if I'll get an answer.

Hopefully Peter has found our message board and read our posts (i did write the web site on my business card and gave it to him) but let me tell you his wife wasn`t so sure because they had only just purchased a computer for the first time and had used the intenet only twice, but lets assume Peter and family have read this. Peter we need you to also voice your disappointment to the club and ask for a response, "not that asking for a response has worked in the past". I will contact the club also, but i ask this seriously, has anyone ever received a response from the club over issues such as these? Not that i have complained to the club very often in the past, but if i have ever asked the club to respond to a concern, i have never received a reply. They treat the supporters like mushrooms i`m afraid.

I faxed the club about Steven Powell's sacking and I think it was the football manager rang me back!!
That was impressive. Hopefully, they will listen to constructive criticism.
I once wrote to Mick Malthouse when he was coaching us and got an answer from him! I referred to him as my penpal for quite a while afterwards, lol.
Joybell also wrote to Terry Wallace a couple of seasons ago and received a reply.
I got a letter from Cookie once :D

I was just on the Bulldogs web site and found the details for the Intra-club match and luncheon this week. I rang to see if there were any tickets left for the luncheon and to confirm the match start time. There are plenty of tickets left and was told that the match starts at 9am which has been mentioned on another thread . Why does the web site state 10am start and why cant they keep the information on it updated? There will be angry people at the ground again who will miss an hour.
BTW has anyone had a reply yet?

Got a reply today which outlined that there had been an error and he assured me that it will be fixed. Also gave me his direct number if I wanted to discuss it further.
I am happy that he acknowledged the problem and with his commitment to rectify it, he also advised that his failure to reply earlier was because he was at the Sunshine Coast with the team which is what I expected.
Not sure if his reply will suit everybody that went out of their way to go to training that day but I am pleased that he bothered to reply and that he seems genuinely committed to improving the communication.
I suggest that anyone else who believes that the club is losing possible members because of some administrative inadequacies should also go into writing to the manager of that area.
Cheers

Intra club practice match
9:38:12 AM Thu 13 February, 2003
westernbulldogs.com.au
The Western Bulldogs intra club practice match this Saturday at the Whiiten Oval will now start at 9am and not 10am as previously stated.
Due to the forecast high temperatures, the gas been brought forward an hour.
We apologise for the late notice but this is a decision that has been made by the Western Bulldogs match committee in the best interests of the players health.
The gas? What are our guys on. First Shane Warne, now the Bulldogs, the worlds going to hell!
