It's very good and one of my favourites, but my vote for Best Aussie Film Ever goes to ''Breaker' Morant'.

I don't think it's the greatest Aussie movie ever, but would certainly rank amongst the very best.

With all due respect to The Castle, which is one of my all time fave films, the fact it's considered one of the best aussie films of all time, is just further proof of how shit the Australian Film industry is ...

We never have, nor we will ever will it seems, produce a film that comes close to the brilliance of Citizen Kane, The Shawshank Redemption, Vertigo, The Godfather etc ???

Personally I think the best ever film from this region of the world was 'Once Were Warriors' and that was a New Zealand produced film.

It's an ok film, but sadly it's spawned about a dozen "The Next The Castle"s over the years, each one shittier than the one before it. Nugget & Take Away come to mind... Yikes!

it isnt the "best" aussie film ever, but i would say it the most loved aussie film ever, if that makes sense.

Of course its not the same class as those movies. The Castle is mainly a comedy...a slap in the face to middle class Australia. For the most part, it hits it pretty close to the mark.

Its a very very good, non serious movie.

The Castle was a great movie . for me tho my favorite aussie movie would have to be " You and Your Stupid Mate"
