First quarter so far is showing how far we have to go. Need to stop using the first option and having the skill to pick the right option. They're getting too carried away with the excitement and make some really horrible plays under pressure.
Neagle!

This is horrid to watch

Good Neagle.
Lacking accountability.
Unclean.
Lost of pressure, but when there is no pressure, we play like there is.

Credit to the Saints I think.

St Kilda are really good, and alot better than us IMO
But how bad have the umpires been? just shocking i can't believe some of calls going St Kilda's way and none to us...
Great goals from Neagle, should've had a third seeing as his opponent was under little pressure to mark it. Defensive pressure REALLY needs to lift. I also like how we're trying to leave space in the forward line.

If we can actually get a chain of possessions going we are look like scoring but just atm just to much fumbling and choosing wrong targets for the hell of it.

17 May 2009, 17:14
Credit to the Saints I think.
For sure. But shows the gap. Bombers have been really good in parts, and really poor in others. Need to step it up and start using it better.

17 May 2009, 17:14
If the midfield scores goals, we'll look better.

Reiwolt sure looks like he'll have a day out

The saints pressure is amazing, they seem to have a release player most of the time.
The pressure's lifting thankfully. Bad luck for Slattery not to get that.

Big N!
I predict Bno1 will have a big posting week this week...

Really lifted. Good stuff.
Haven't seen Lloyd in it. Or Monfries.
I've lost my doubts of Neagle not being able to be our next full forward. Another great goal.
EDIT: I should probably add that they weren't very big doubts.

Davey's kicking these last few weeks has been awful. If he can get his kicking together he'll be amazing.

Hocking + Leg Speed =
Good finish Winders.

Zaha needs to realise he can't run away from everything.
We need more poise from the half back, bad kicking so far.
Ryder, Davey and Myers then. Brilliant!!!

C'mon Dons!!!
Lift boys lift...was always going to be a challange though.
Good to hear they are giving it a shot! :thumbsu:

Hello, Myers?
Why didn't we play the first quarter like this? We need to keep at our game and not get discouraged when things don't go our way.

17 May 2009, 17:37
If we can stop those simple turnovers from just general poor disposal we're a chance to give 'em a good run.

Is Lloyf injured? Forward structure is not working, getting 3 on 1s every time.

17 May 2009, 17:44
Half time...
Hope the boys hang in there for the 2nd half.
Any news on the Pears injury?
C'MON BOYS!! :thumbsu:
We're not out of it yet but there's a lot of work to do. We just need to keep up what we're doing, plus win some clearances for some quick goals.
what did davey get reported for?

Great quarter there, especially from Jobe.
That deliberate rushed behind debacle could hurt us. 19 is a lot prettier than 25.
Skeeta Olly
17 May 2009, 17:50
Hit contact. Hopefully a reprimand.
Skeeta Olly
17 May 2009, 17:52
Looking at the replay....no idea what Davey was doing, as if he was going to make contact, then turned to pull out.

Stantons had a shocker :(
Did Myers mark the ball before? because if he did then he should've stayed.
Not bad...

Atleast we are putting pressure on the saints. :thumbsu:
Lets hope 9 day break counts for something...

Just gotta try not to fall away now.
We've won the last 2 quarters. We can do this but we need quick goals. We lose the clearances then make up for it in the backline which gives them time to get back. The best way to beat the zone is to get it into our forward line before they can set it up.

Kick those goals, would have been right in there. Miss them and get hit on the rebound with 1, its all over.

If there's anything the Collingwood game should have taught us, it's that you stay positive until the final siren. Methinks our mate NatRat deserves a stern word re: discipline. :thumbsd:

20 points. One more for 14, looks better.
Ergh if only that lloyd mark was paid.

Far out.
Missed goals in this qtr have killed us.
What an effort though! :thumbsu:

17 May 2009, 19:12
A terrific effort. We actually won the last three quarters. So many useless what ifs now, but we know that if we were switched on in the first quarter the result may be different. We're not bad at this game.
Wahooti Fandango
17 May 2009, 19:14
Good effort. The Saints were just too composed and classy. We could not breach the 20 point deficit.
Ben the Gooner
17 May 2009, 19:15
Very proud of the boys, we certainly gave them a run.
But if that deliberate rushed behind was paid, and Lloyd's mark wasn't robbed from him, that's 5 points, and suddenly a contest.
Skeeta Olly
17 May 2009, 19:15

Lots of positives, great effort!
Very impressive bombers. You guys are so fast, amazing. You guys have easily been our best opposition so far. I dont know if another team would have been able to hold your guys, the way u broke our lines and attacked the corridor.:thumbsu: Good luck for the rest of the year. See you in finals.

just lost it good onya boys! should have WON! beat those prickly Tigers next week! dam it! lol, anyway closer than Collingowbbles! hate them and Carlton and Hawks! never hated the Saints! don't know why????? lol! would even buy a membership if i had too cheers ! well done boys! :D:o
This might be the first time I've ever been happy with a loss. We messed up in the first quarter but to win the next 3 quarters against a top 2 team is great. Laycock said he was back doing full training so hopefully he can come back soon to help Ryder.
A lot of positives to come from this game.

17 May 2009, 19:38
dont think our effort was rewarded in the 3rd and 4th quarters, we had the run of play and alot of shots on goals but couldnt convert.
also we missed too many shots on goals in the first 10 mins in the 4th which would of made it alot closer, but apart from that was thrilled with the our performance
Was there a scare with Paddy Ryder when he was on the bench? I was watching at a bar, so couldn't hear the commentators.

Hamstring tightness. Either a strain or just fatigue.
