Seems to be the opinion of most on the main board but the statistics dont add up. He actually averaged the most possesions out of all the crows players last year.

I'd say McLeod and Goodwin were definetly above Johnson. Ricciuto probably didn't spend quite as much time on the ball as McLeod, Goodwin and Johnson. A lot of non-south australian football followers don't realise that it is quite often Johnson getting the ball out to the likes of McLeod and Goodwin.

yeah but in that team...4th is still really good.

the adelaide fans all say Johnson is a quality get...they just aren't in mourning because they still have macca, roo, edwards and goodwin....and developing youngsters.

johnson will make bowdo and tivvers look a lot better...if they straighten up when shooting.

no doubt johnson will be tagged as our no1 midfielder but i believe he has the skill and more importantly the attitude to handle this.
futhermore this will give the likes of coughlan a bit more freedom which i doubt he would have got if we didnt get johnson.

cheers!

I would have tended to agree with the title of this thread but the Adelaide folk have continued to talk up Johnson even after he was gone.

At this stage I will bow to their better judgement!

(Besides, there is no disgrace in being thought of as less than the likes of McLeod, Goodwin and Ricciuto)

Opinion around here is that Johnson was number 1 at the Crows for the first half of 2002. Depended a bit on injuries. I think they were happy to have Macleod tagged heavily for the while he was hampered by injury as it let the likes of Johnson go free.

Anywhere in the top few in the second best midfield in an SA team is pretty good though.

McLeod, Roo & Goody are past All-Australian players & are just ahead of Sugar in the view of most Crow supporters. This is no disgrace as Johnson is a class act in his own right & was leading our BF voting for most of the year. I doubt you will be disappointed (as long as he stays fit) as he will become your #1 midfielder IMO.

There is no question Kane Johnson is a quality midfielder. He can get the hard ball and he can also be a running outside player. There is NO doubt in my mind that Sugar will be richmond's number 1 midfielder in 2003. If tigers manage him correctly and he is capable of playing majority of games he will be a class act. I would have Kane back at Adelaide in no time. Will be a big loss for us, but nevertheless good luck to him.;)

cheers! I wouldn't trade McLeod unless you can offer us an exceptional deal - ie. Ottens, Holland, Coughlin, Johnson (back) & early draft picks. ;)
