Dreamtime or not.....

3) Davey - never stopped in the first half
2) Winderlich - so strong rebounding from half back
1) Dempsey - fantastic game, and what a grab!

But Lovett, Watson, NLM, Lloyd and Zaharakis were huge in the 3rd

Votes:
3) Watson
2) Lovett
1) Winderlich

My votes obviously reflect the second-half, when the game was won. Watson, although blanketed in the first, was responsible (IMO) for the win. Lovett and Winders were superb.

Negatives:
Dempsey's hair
Dempsey's potential injury.

3) Watson - Very tough in contests and his kicking was very good today, got in there and laid some great tackles. Played a great game from the beginning, well done!

2) Winderlich - Got a tone of possessions and kicked some handy goals, ran all night and helped in tight conditions. Really is showing improvement weekly!

1) Lloyd/Lovett/Davey - Can't decide between the three. Davey chased hard the whole game and kicked goals which was a great bonus for his hard work. Lovett as per usual ran and carried, helped through the middle and set some good play up. Lloyd helped down back quite a few times, also kicked the goals he needs to each game!

Good games from LLoyd & Zaka

Geezuz holy mother I hope that Dempsey's ok... Whilst I dont like his hair per se, its great he can express himself beyond the footy field.. his confidence is growing.

1. Lovett - His goal 5 mins into the 3rd quarter was the thing that sparked our confidence, his celebrations send chills down any Bomber supporters spine.

2. Winderlich - Unquestionably brilliant tonight, hope is back is alright from when his head was squashed into his spine.

3. Ryder - Played an amazing game, 7 Tackles (amazing for anyone over 195cm) some great marks.. I love this kid.

Equal 3. Watson - He was not so good in the first half, only had 9 possessions but as soon as he fired so did the rest of the team, I believe he is Essendons most important player by miles.

3. Jason Winderlich - Has been a major part of pulling us out of form slumps, and back into top gear. Speed, skill and goal-kicking ability combo is awesome to watch.
2. Patrick Ryder - What can I say; Has continued his brilliant form. Star of the competition.
1. Tayte Pears - Done a great job once again; Positioning in most contests were superb.

Unlucky: Jobe, Lovett, Zaharakis.

I realise that anyone can vote for anyone that they so chose, but I find it interesting that some have left Watson out of the votes. Why? Without Watson we would have got no ball.

Reasonable question PP. I loved his work; Inside and out. But, I thought Winderlich had a slightly better game in the midfield / HF areas. Ryder had another brilliant game in the ruck with a high number of tackles plus Pears did an absolutely superb job out-marking/positioning his opponents on numerous occassions. Unfortunately I could only give votes to three players. As mentioned in my previous post in the thread; He was unlucky not to feature.

Watson seems to be having a big year. Getting a lot of respect from outside the footy club too. :thumbsu:
Blight has a massive man crush on Knights (fair enough). :thumbsu:
I actually didn't mind Dempsey's haircut. :thumbsu:
If I'm not mistaken Slattery did a really great job on Nathan Brown after taking that role from McPhee. Nice work Slatts. :thumbsu:
Jetta's sloppy skills were a bit of a liability tonight. :thumbsd:
Houli did OK but I'm still not confident when he has the ball. Needs to iron out his mistakes. :thumbsd:
Zaharakis loves a goal! Just seems to find space and backs himself to snag a few. :thumbsu:
Winderlich sensational. :thumbsu:

Watson was fantastic in the second half fight back, but we should not ignore the fact that we were still hanging in their and only down by 16 points thanks to good work from Winderlich, Monfries and Pears in the first half. Almost as important as the fight back was the fact that when we playing abysmally, we still hung around on the scoreboard.

3. Winderlich (for once, a match without watson being our bog. not saying thats a bad thing, but wouldn't mind a change :P) no clangers for the second time in a row.
2. Ryder (great ruckwork, and play around the ground. really shaping to be a good ruckman)
1. Lovett (excellent, has improved so much this year.)

3 - Watson - Awesome game, kicked straight, if he can continue to be efficient with his kicking I have no doubt that he will be elite. His possessions in close are just as valuable as anything anyone does.

2 - Dempsey - Was exceptional.... made timely spoils, created heaps of run, used the ball great and provided plenty of grunt, did stuff with purpose. I hope the injury is only an ankle and nothing serious. He is becoming the player I dreamed he would be

1 - Winderlich - Was tremendous, just continually plays consistent football. Great game!

Other notes

Pears, absolutely awesome, what's gonna happen when he gets play on a flank when Fletcher, Hurley or Daniher come in.

Hooker, is deceivingly quick... takes the game on.. will hurt us sometimes... but a great natural instinct for a defender... his a real find for us..

Goalkicking was on the money tonight, Lloyd, Davey and a few others all converted from shots I expected them to miss...

Jetta and Dyson were not upto it tonight..

Zaharakis... we were worried about not taking a midfielder with a first round pick.. this guy has shown more than many midfielders drafted high in the last few years

Lonergan... dug deep... slow start... but fought hard in the second half

The Aboriginals... I love em... I love our game plan.. just love the way they played tonight...

Big apologies to Dempsey, who was excellent throughout.

Jobe has truly inherited the mantle from Sir James as the litmus player for this team. If he's down, the side is down. If he's on song, the team is on song. It was proved again tonight with his quiet first half and fine second half.

3. Watson - Best game of the year for mine. May have got less of the pill but used it brilliantly and also kicked a couple. Best player at our club.

2. Winderlich - Was a toss up between Winders and watson for the chocolates but just lent towards Watson. Arguably Winders best game for the season which is a fair compliment because he has been really good to date.

1. Pears - Almost gave him the 2. Thought he was great. Looks like he has played 200 games. Great drive out of the backline

Unlucky:

Lovett - Silky smooth. Lifted when we needed him to. Most improved player at the club by a fair margin. Could have got a vote for sure.

Houli - I have noticed a few people have critisised his game but i dont understand why. He shut down Nahas and was also provided great run out of defence. Is proving to be a revelation in defence. Also surprised by his speed. Kept up with Nahas on 2 the 2 occasions that Nahas got free.

Ryder - I thought Ryder was aout best player in the 1st qtr and was largely responsible for us still being within striking distance.

Lloyd - See Paddy Ryder. First quarter was good and provided a target all night.

Dempsey - Great run and drive. Generally very good disposal. Getting better with every game. Gave Bling a bath. Hope he is right to go this next week.

Davey - Almost forgot little froggy. Was very good early on when we needed him to be and he capped it off with 2 or 3 goals. Pressured and harrassed as we expect him to and his disposal/decision making was much improved from last week.

Zaharakis - Didnt get a heap of the pill but was very damaging. Unlucky not to kick 5-6 goals. I like the idea of playing him more up forward with very short bursts on the wing. This kid is a dangerous footballer and needs to be respected by the opposition. Good finisher. Great overhead mark.

Again, apologies Taytey.
Whoever coined "Fortress Essendon" :thumbsu: Hurley and Fletcher, coming soon. Kudos to whomever mentioned that Hooker is deceptively quick. Agreed. It used to make me nervous when he was in possession as well. No where near so anymore.

Apologies also to Dempsey who had a terrific game, and Houli, whose first half especially was strong and did a good job on Nahas.

Different spin on the votes:
3- Winda, Lovett, Davey, Dempsey - all run hard and never gave up
2- Watson, Lloyd, Zaharakis - quiet at times but all won their matchup in the end and contributed well
1 - Ryder, Pears, Hooker, Lonergan - these boys did plenty of one %er's when the game was on the line.

Impressed with Dempsey he is brilliant across half back, Lonergan lifted his game in the second half showing the hard nut tassie spirit.
Brilliant win seeing we played terrible for half. Keep it up Dons!
