Who's hanging for it? Speaking for myself, I can't wait. Come on Monday............

I have watched the first 5 episodes already. Much better than the original, it is edgier, and all action from the first episode.

Can't wait for Monday night! I'll be shutting myself away from the world while I watch 24!

I dunno, it's a good show but the fact you have to watch pretty much every epeisode to get an understanding of what happens is a bit annoying. Might wait for the DVD.

ouch, spoiler?!?!?

luckily I already watched all the first season DVDs - I'll be waiting for the second season DVDs because I just KNOW I'll miss a couple if I watch them on TV.

AND I'll be avoiding every conversation or messageboard that mentions it ;)

Some git posted exactly what Jod did on one of the news boards I read. I hadn't even watched the first episode

Agree on Elisha, she is hot (and looks very nice in the opening episode)

Are you kidding me Jod? I was high fiving myself when she got whacked. Dumb, whiny bitch.

Tonight was awesome. I loved it! Can't wait for more.

I am up to episode 10 of this new series and let me tell you it is awesome!! For anyone that missed it last night Channel Seven are repeating the first two eps tomorrow night (Thursday 12th Feb at 21:30).

It might be handy if they do that every week. Might actually be able to watch every episode this time.

I thought it was great last night. Much better start than the first season. After 15 minutes the main question on my mind was 'why does Kim have a five year old daughter?'.

Might sound sadistic but I'd love to see the bomb go off. Nothing much would beat LA being blown to high heaven.

Loved the show last night. Great premise, great tension, great television.

One problem though.... I didn't see the first series. I wanted to, but by the time I "discovered it" it was already into its 10th episdoe so I didn't bother.

So, can some kind person give me a brief descrpition of the characters (the ones who have been in the first two espisodes of the 2nd series last night who were in the first series too) and what they did in the first series. Also, a brief descrpition of the plot of the first series.

I was trying to piece together the characters last night. Kiefer Sutherland's daughter for instance: She's the blonde chick right? Who is the 10 year old then? His grandaughter? What happend to Kiefers wife? What is the relationship with the bastard who wanted the little kid back. etc etc.

I just want to try to piece together the characters when I watch next Monday. So, if someone could do it for me, it would be appreciated.

Warning - there may be spoilers if you havent seen the first episode.

Basically what happened in the last series was: Group of baddies plan to asassinate Senator Palmer (who is now President) and knock off Jack (Sutherland), because they did something to these baddies in the past. Palmer is saved by Jack but in the last episode a mole at CTU (huge surprise who it was) shoots Jack's wife. Thus why Kim (Jack's daughter) can't cope being around her father now. Then they just had more stuff in those 24 episodes that seem pretty irrelevant. Pretty much spoils it for you if you planned on watching the first series.

Run down of characters:
Jack: Main bloke, quit CTU it seems after his wife was shot. Friends with Palmer.
Palmer: Was Presidential Candidate during the first series, now he's President. Baddies attempted to take his life but Jack saved him.
Kim (Jack's daughter): Seems a bit ****ed that her mum was dead, and doesn't want much to do with her father. That isn't her child, it's the kid she's baby-sitting for that family with the psycho father. Don't know any of their connections.
Tony: Bloke at CTU who seemed a bit evil during the first series, but turned out ok.
George: Took Jack's job at CTU and played a pretty big role in the first series. Nasty looking bloke.

All the other characters are new, unless I've lost a connection somewhere. Hope that helps.

Tip for you Dan....Go and rent the first series either on DVD or video....you will not regret it. Fantastic veiwing. They say this new series which premieres tomorrow night called "Boomtown" is the new series which is all the rage at the moment in the US but I will have to pretty freaking good to beat 24! Easily the best show on television.

Oh and Dan...what happened to your post count??

Well, second best anyway

Nothing tops The West Wing

But yeah, definitely rent the first series, but if you do set several hours aside because you won't be able to stop at one episode.

Boomtown - at first watching it is pretty hard to get into as it is very different from the norm for television. It does seem a bit chaotic and confusing but stick with it - it is another hit series. Imagine you are reading a book and each chapter tells the same story but from a different viewpoint. The review below explains it better than I.

"Each viewpoint is a tiny but illumination puzzle piece. Only by putting many pieces of the puzzle together do you get the real sense of the whole picture and understand who did what to whom and why."_ - New York News

Stick with it as the fourth episode will blow you away!!!

Can't say it is better or worse than 24 as this is like comparing apples with eggs.

Did you see it on DVD? What was the alternate ending? What was different? I only saw it when it was on tv.

The alternate ending is Jack's wife doesn't die, and a family hug

The format sounds a lot like the movie Go.

Good call! The West Wing is one of the best shows on TV. The West Wing and 24, cant really go past those two, I also enjoy Third Watch alot....very entertaining stuff, dealing with all three emergency services in NY. Great drama, if you dont watch it, see an episode!

How boring is that! Thank god the 1st series ended like it did - it finished the way the rest of the show was - twist after twist after twist after twist.........

I think they are only up to 1 death so far from 2 episodes. Pretty slow start considering they had at least 1 person die in 23 of the 24 hours in series 1!:D :D

After the post counts were re-adjusted for the general boards I lost 7,000 posts.

It's something to do with transferring my Dan25 posts over to Dan26, and then losing those posts once the adjustment was made to the general talk boards several days ago.

Yeah, its a pity I caught you before you lost all those posts. Therefore you could always say you were number 1 :D

Taped 24 because I was at work but will watch it very soon!

Glad that didn't make the final cut - I cheered when she got knocked.

I'm a big fan of Nina - can't wait to meet her again.
