It is airing tonight at 10.00pm on SBS. My attention was captured when I read the synopsis!

Ghost Dog is a hit-man, loyal to an American mobster who once saved his life, who lives in a dismal rooftop shack, and leads a meticulously ordered existence that is defined and regulated by The Book of the Surai. He has two friends, a French West-Indian ice cre truck owner who doesn't understand a word of English and a little black girl, Pearline, who shares his passion for reading. Every day he sends his carrier pigeon to old Louie to check if a contract awaits him. A contract arrives to shoot the old lover of a mafia boss's precious daughter. But because the daughter witnesses the murder, the mob wants Ghost Dog dead too.

Director: Jim Jarmusch
Cast: Forest Whitaker, John Tormey

It was released all the way back in 1999 so has anyone here seen it? What do you think of it?

I await with anticipation :thumbsu:

I actually saw it when it came out, decent film, bit of a cult following these days.

Can't believe that was 10 years ago!

About 8 years ago for me. Sitting in a flat in London drinking beer and watching DVDs while Mrs Chief-to-be was studying. Good times... good times...

It was a bit obscure at times. A bit slow going at times (although probably not helped by SBS having a couple ad breaks) but was entertaining at times. The head mobster getting shot via the drain pipe gets a smiling thumbs up from me :D:thumbsu:

Not a fantastic film though.

Great film, seen it a long time ago, it's actually been Jim Jarmusch season on SBS, every week they've been showing one of his films, Dead Man, Down By the Law, A Night on Earth, Mystery Train, one of my favourite directors and some terrific films.

Haven't seen it in a while.

One of Jarmusch's more solid efforts.

Great soundtrack by The RZA, too.

SBS is yet to screen Jarmusch's first two features - Permanent Vacation and Stranger Than Paradise.

Torture.

^ Stranger than Paradise was shown a few weeks back in Melbourne.

Have really enjoyed the Jarmusch showcase by SBS this past month, I thought 'Down by Law' was outstanding.

I heart Forest Whitaker.

A better film than Seven Pounds.

That is a great scene where the old Mobster is rapping in the bathroom to the music playing and gets shot through the sink. :D
