The Maroondah Festival has attracted some reasonably profiled acts in the past (Magic Dirt, etc.).

Oh yeah Magic Dirt, they are great. Such a well polished outfit, excellent band.

I saw her on TV the other day singing with Elmo from Sesame Street and Elmo is a better singer.

I never said they were "great", just that they were reasonably profiled.

Not that you would know, anyway.

Nah I do know.

I've heard their albums, and I saw them live when they opened for Grinspoon. They're a load of shee eyte.

One of the worst excuses for a band if I've ever seen one. You reckon the BDO promoters just put together these pieces of shee eyte just to fill up the stages between the "good" bands.

:D saw that too! it was hilarious...elmo's a star!!

seriously tho, I don't think you can label Amorossi as a fallen star, I mean, she's done pretty well for herself, sold a lot of records, and while i don't particularly like her music i can admire her talent and ability, and unlike many other artists which produce manufactured pop at least she can actually sing.

Just as trashy as Magic Dirt, albeit with a better producer.

grinspoon: a dumb-arse riff rock act with stupid, meaningless lyrics, which is all fine and good if they could do it well....but their riffs dont rock nearly enough, and the only thing worse than writing stupid meaningless lyrics - is trying to get all serious, and producing a ballad with stupid meaningless lyrics

You are a little harsh. They don't have brilliant lyrics, but they have a good sound, well written wongs, reasonably good melodys, good musicians and they know how to rock. Not my fav band but I don't mind them.

Hmmm I reckon Magic Dirt are a good live band, in the right venue.....preferably a smaller place.

Vanessa Amorosi - since when does she have talent?! She has an aaaaaawwwful voice. Just screams. Elmo would be far better!
