Australia A Squad to take on Pakistan in Queensland:

Cameron White (capt), Adam Voges, George Bailey, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Broad, Burt Cockley, Callum Ferguson, Brett Geeves, Moises Henriques, Jon Holland, Michael Klinger, Jason Krejza, Shaun Marsh, Clint McKay, Tim Paine, Shaun Tait, David Warner.

I think the best team would look like:

Marsh
Klinger (Warner in One Dayers)
Ferguson
Bailey
Voges
White
Paine
Geeves
Krejza
Bollinger
Cockley (Tait in One Dayers)

tasmania - set to become the next NSW :D :D :D

seriously, that's 2 in the Ashes squad and 4 in the Australia A squad :D

in fairness, i think George Bailey is lucky - as much as I enjoyed his batting as a youngster when he smashed the team i was wicket keeping for for 150 runs of about 60 balls... but i really don't think he's in our second team. for 20/20, definitely. but not in 4 day cricket.

krejza is probably lucky - but they're never going to pick old man mcgain for an A team.

and i'm soooo glad to see paine 'officially' selected as the 3rd keeper. i think going forward wade is a good chance to surpass him - but at the moment i don't think anyone who isn't wearing bushranger blinkers could think that he's done enough to be number 3. he wasn't even in the victorian team full time last season.

i must say that i am disappointed that moses is only in the pyjama forms of the game - if we're to continue this obsession with allrounders, i think he's worth getting some experience into.

some surprising selections for bowlers... but then i'm not on top of which players are playing county seasons, so the final bowling spot could well have come down to who was available.

Played all the Shield games though. Crosthwaite is preferred for ODD/T20

Great to see Krejza back in the frame. Is the only bowler who's had success in the longer form since Shane Warne retired. Hope he kills it.

Ryan Broad? Burt Cockley? Moises Henriques? How bad are we travelling at the moment if these blokes are close to national selection?

Marsh very unlucky not to be selected for the T20 World Cup, especially considdering he's fit. I assumed he was injured still.

Not too sure about the Ryan Broad selection, but there probably weren't a lot of other options. The only other real option was Dan Harris, who did have a better year than Broad. But really Rogers is the next opener in line, followed by Marsh. So I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Personally I don't think Krejza is ever going to make it at international level, he just isn't that good. So I would probably prefer Holland to be the main spinner. But at this stage it's much of a muchness.

I like Cockley's selection, but not McKay or Henriques. McKay is an average medium pacer, who will never make it at the next level. While Henriques is just getting picked based on 'potential'. Ryan Harris could consider himself unlucky, while so too could Dorey and Magoffin. But I don't have a problem with them selecting some younger guys, although they could have gone the other way and picked a promising kid like Peter George.

Marsh
Broad (Warner in one dayers)
Klinger
Ferguson
Voges
White
Paine
Geeves
Krejza/Holland
Bollinger
Cockley (Tait in one dayers)

He's more than that. While he's not that quick, he gets good bounce, and does a bit with the ball. It's a reasonably strong pace attack, but I'd imagine they share it around with everyone in the squad, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Rogers? Hodge?

Rogers? Hodge?

My guess is they'll be playing county cricket in England in hope for an Ashes call up if injury occurs to a player in the squad.

Hodge isn't playing County Cricket, AFIK.

Rogers seems to be well off the radar for selectors. I think Hodge's role is clear, he is the guy they call up when injuries strike. Don't really need to see too much more of him, better to trial some newer faces.

Hrmm, interesting. Would think he'd be chasing a short stint while the Ashes were being played.

Think he mentioned in The Age in the week leading up to selection that he was going to stay with his wife and newborn. Don't quote me though. :p
