Gilchrist Runs: 4866 Ave: 34.02 SR: 91.08
Healy Runs: 1764 Ave: 21.00 SR: 83.84
R.Marsh Runs: 1225 Ave: 20.08 SR: 82.26
Lehamnn Runs: 2285 Ave: 37.45 SR: 81.87
O'Donnell Runs: 1242 Ave: 25.34 SR: 80.96
If you narrow it down to 2000 runs required only 2 players have a SR over 80 being Gilchrist & Lehmann
Pretty good effort by both these players. Also shows how modest they both are particularly Lehmann as you dont read/hear much press about how good a player he is.
Its also interesting to note that 3 of these guys are wicket keepers!
Darren Lehmann is vastly underrated.
Didn't know Lehmann's ODI record was that good.
I think I, like most people, have taken more notice of his below-par record at test level.

Agree - Lehmann is, in my view, an exceptional and underrated batsman.
O'Donnell, Healy and Marsh all came in down the order (7 or 8) with an obvious mandate to 'go the tonk'.
Gilchrist could easily have been assigned that role too had he entered the team ten to fifteen years ago, but with the trend firmly set to maximise scoring opportunities in the first fifteen overs he has the 'Jayasuria' role in the team.

It's interesting how he got dropped from the Australian one-day side last time. He was out for 1 in three consecutive one-day internationals in India - and one of those was a controversial run out - and he disappeared unluckily from the side for almost 12 months.
He was badly missed during the VB series in 2001/02, as Australia's middle-order was burdened with the stodgy Martyn and Bevan and the fading Steve Waugh. Lehmann was brought back to the side too late in the series but in his only match against South Africa in Perth, he batted with intelligence and has been a regular fixture of the side ever since.

Despite his performances in the series prior to that, where his average and strike rate were in triple figures!

Its probably his athleticism (or lack of it) when it came down to the crunch. Dont get me wrong his fielding is sound but he was always the guy you take a quick single to or "one on the arm", now with his bowling really taking off he is now a permanent member in this side
