Ok its early days but who is your tip for the player of the tournament? Its hard to see a standout australian at the moment because the team is playing so well together but a bowler may snap it up.Lee,gillespie maybe? The scarey thing for the opposition is that Hayden and gilly havent fired yet

With a hundred and a fifty odd not out in his first 2 matches, Sanath Jayasuriya has had a great start to the World Cup and must be right up there in the votes.

Gibbs would be a big chance, assuming the Proteas can get through to the super sixes.

From an Australian POV, i'd say that Brett Lee would be our best chance, at this stage.

Not suggesting he will win it, but Wasim Akram has got off to a flying start. Runs and wickets in a losing side against Australia, then more runs and wickets against Namibia. Fair enough that second game was against poor opposition, but you can only beat what's in front of you and Wasim Akram has put forward two very good all-round performances in both games.

Chimda Vaas or Jayasuria would lead the pack at the moment. Symmonds and Gillespie best for Aust. Gibbs has done well for the proteas but they might not make the super six.

I think Steve Fleming is a good show provided NZ make it through to the super sixes

Kluseners been good but he has only played a couple of cameos and has been average with the ball.Guys that have scored big hundreds should be well ahead.

Are these done on a 3-2-1 basis like the Brownlow?

Klusener has started off the tournament well, and if it's a 3-2-1 system I can see why he has 5. A big-hitting 57 nearly snatched SAF a victory against the WIs - Lara made a century (clear 3 votes) but there weren't any other really notable performances (G.Kirsten 69 off 92 maybe for the third vote). I'm presuming Klusener got two votes here.

Against Kenya he was named MOTM for his 4-16 off 8 overs. No big batting performances as Kenya were bundled out fairly cheaply and SAF didn't have many to chase. Three votes.

Against NZ he made a quickfire 33 but two blokes made centuries and Astle made 54* in a match dominated by the bat. No votes here.

Bad way to do it IMO.With so many minnows playing you could slay a few of the lesser lights and win it regardless of the imapct you had on the tournament.I dont think at this stage Klusener has been the most influential player at the tournament.

Maybe the players should get more points for more important games. Like in the super 6's the votes should increase from 3-2-1 to 6-4-2. Then in the semi finals should increase from 6-4-2 to -9-6-3 and then in the final increase to 12-8-4.

or something similar to stop a player from slaughtering the lesser countries and not even making the into the Super 6's and still winning best player award.

Just a thought.
