Game shows. I have always hated them, but there is this one in Italy called "Sarabanda" which has me hooked. The champion has been on the show for three months now, beating all-comers. He lacks some social graces, and is openly hated and taunted by most of the cast of this show, including the 50 or so scantily clad female models. Despite this, he endears himself to me, and goes by the nickname of "uomo gatto" (catman). Each night, the producers find bizarre personalities (eg lion-man, karate kid, and some weird woman who produced a tiny coffin with a voodoo doll of the catman inside it, which freaked him out) who basically insult and taunt him constantly throughout the show. Yet somehow he manages to keep winning. It's so bad, it's good.

Is there any rubbish TV you find yourself hooked on?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Great ideas, but executed to appeal to the SMG fan club rather than people with brains...

Uomo gatto lost last night after three and a half months as champion. Sad day for all.

I'd say you jinxed him...

Three months no problem, you post about him on Bigfooty, two days later BANG! GONE...

You could see it coming though. The day I posted, he came from miles behind to snatch a draw, and narrowly won a tie-breaker. The producers were obviously trying to get rid of him, and they eventually found some rainman type guy who knew all the answers. Nowhere near as amusing though...

R.I.P Uomo Gatto :(

Ran into some truly appalling late night TV called "Chains of Love". Channel 9 should lose its licence for that.

Ditto the ABC for inflicting their vast library of Rank films on the sleep impaired.

Anyone seen a painfully ridiculous, but funny of course, Japanese show on at about one in the morning called 'Banzai'?

It's a sort of game show where people do stupid things and you bet on who will win/lose. They once had two teenage boys sitting in chairs while strippers lap-danced for them. The first one to get an erection lost.

The segment was called "The Pants of Shame". Hilarious!

I get to see it in Italian, with a Japanese accent.
