It sure is kind of Robert Downey Jr. to give us Sherlock Holmes in between the Iron Man movies. And if the new Holmes trailer is any indication, this movie (which co-stars Jude Law and Rachel McAdams, and is directed by Guy Ritchie) is definitely not going to suck. Downey appears to add just the right amount of smart arse to the Holmes character - though a seemingly different kind than that which he lent to Iron Man's Tony Stark. We've already learned (http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/05/sherlock-holmes.html) that, in the film, Holmes fights a Satanist, trades banter with a dashing Watson, and is foiled by McAdams' Irene Adler. Now we get to see it in action. And we like what we see! Take a look below and let us know your thoughts? Are you already prepared to camp out for tickets to the Christmas release (26th December, 2009)?

I will go and see it for sure. I quite like Downey Junior but why or why must they get an american to play the part of Sherlock Holmes? Surely, they could have found an englishmen who could have played the part?

There have been many Holmes amongst the years. The best ever was an english actor called Jermey Brett. Unfortunately he had cancer when he was filing the episodes, but I have never seen an actor come even close to Sherlock Holmes like he did.

Great trailer.

Guy Ritchie's involvement is a worry.

But Downey Jr. is reason enough to go see it...

what a load of Tripe
American rubbish

The definitive Sherlock Holmes HAS ALWAYS been Basil Rathbone with Nigel Bruce

Watch The Scarlet Claw set in the village of La Mort Rouge where the fog machine goes into overdrive. You just cant beat the atmospheric atmosphere.

I will boycott this shittyarse new version,

I didn't like Nigel Bruce as watson. He came across as a bit stupid.

Did you watch the Jeremy Brett episodes?

I agree with you that americans shouldn't produce Sherlock Holmes films or star in them?

Anyone seen Tropical Thunder?

Not a big fan but in the opening scenes there are flashes of promotional trailers as to what each character/actor was filming at the time, and that was all I could think back to when watching the promo for this movie during a screening of The Hangover.

Robert Downey Jr in some kind of old styled, gay, over acted biblical type movie, this I'm sure should be better then the fake promo in Tropical Thunder though.
