It's not even Monday and both Bombers and Blues supporters are already ripping into each other.

This thread is designed to accommodate 'friendly' banter amongst supporters from both boards. Carlton supporters wishing to throw a bit of tongue-in-cheek exchanges our way, do so in here. Keep it within the BigFooty guidelines, and refrain from getting personal.

The Carlton board are hosting an identical thread for the same purpose, with the same rules applying. To quote The Old Dark Navy's, "venture out of this thread, even with a toe in the waters of disrespect and we will chop them off."

Have fun kids.

Thanks for the 4 points see ya next seasonWhere's the improvement going to come from, then? As you pointed out, your two stars have dominated (bar Fev's dismal kicking in R3) the last three games.

Murphy and Gibbs aren't any better, and your list just seems to fall away after that.
We have a healthy dose of inclusions on last game.

At a guess I'd say we're around 6-8 goals better than round 3. If we turn it on, and we tend to in blockbuster games, your mob could be in for a long night.

No in all seriousness.
Should be a cracking game.

I know his only 1 player, but you have to admit Judd is in Brownlow form.
His just killing it at the moment, he cant be stopped and the kids are following his lead.

I know Essedon don't rate our young guys either, just like St.Kilda didn't rate us, but we've come a long way since round 3. Players like Bower,Joseph,Browne,Armfield and Austin have stepped up and taken on the best and beaten them. Underrate us at your own peril. We won't get sucked in to your pathetic diving tactics this time. :thumbsu:

Dons by 5 goals.

Too much speed through the middle.
Big bodies at stoppages.
Too much height and strength up forward.
Blues are missing one of their best 22 (Waite) and have FA depth.
Dons were able to get some form and match fitness into McVeigh, Welsh, Prismall, Fletcher and Reimers against Melbourne.
Too few scoring options for Carlton.
Lloyd always has a game out against Carlton.
Carlton simply aren't that good when there's any pressure at the contest.

Didn't think it was that bad, myself. :o

You're in for a rude shock come Friday night. We're undoubtedly the better side, irrespective of what the ladder might say. We've shot ourselves in the foot by failing to get over the line in the close matches but we're much better now than we were earlier in the season. Can't say I've been overly impressed with the Bombers of late.

You might fancy your forward line but our young defence will show you just how far they've come. Jamison and Bower to take Lloyd and Lucas - don't care if Lucas might have had a half decent game against the hapless Demons, he'll be a liability as Bower destroys him on the rebound.

Armfield and AJ to shutdown Davey and Lovett. Hope AJ goes to Lovett myself. As good as Lovett has been against us, AJ has done the job on players more dangerous than he.

You might claim that we lack scoring power - we've only scored 110 more points than your mob has this season, while conceding 70 points fewer. Fev to have a field day as he always does against the Dons, with Betts and Garlett running amok at his feet. Give Murphy even an inch and he'll slot through two.

Cannot wait for this game - rest assured I'll be back here Saturday and hope you'll be too.

I got banned from your board for disputing with mediumsizered that Fevola played just as good as Lloyd in the last game.

He said that i should have listened in school because 31 and 31 are the same thing. I replied that maybe he should have listened in school because 31 doesnt always equal 31.

He then banned me from he board because i said he didnt pay attention is school and then he proceeded to lock the thread to save himself from making more of a fool of himself.

OK, I'll bite. the whole dads army thing is something you guys have to let go. Lloyd only played one awesome quarter of footy last week, which was enough. Lucas is working back into form, and Fletch was playing his first game back from injury. If you think they'll struggle from "overachieving" last week, you're in for a big shock, my friend.

Besides, these three haven't been our matchwinners as often this year. try Lovett, Winderlich, Watson, Dempsey and Ryder. hardly in the age bracket befitting this so called "dads army" you still cling to as our reason for victory last week. We are one of the youngest sides in the comp based on average age this year.

OK, now that that's out of the way, I can't wait for this game. always a contest, generally free flowing, and quality footy played every time we've met in the last 2-3 years. I'm sure that all footy fans will hope for this at least, regardless of the result. having said that, GO DONS!

I hear Hugh Jackman has been down at Essendon offering his professional advice for the players at training. Turns out they were already pretty good and didn't need his help with Lloyd and Davey excelling.

Lucas (AKA Zoolander cos he can't turn left) on Bower. Bower to gather 30 disposals and Lucas to kick nothing and finally retire.

Welsh to come off at half time not to return for a hair dressing and manicure appointment.

Lloyd and/or Fletcher to get reported, their due.

Essendon supporters to realise that Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher carry the team and are pretty much finished/finished within 3 years and their stuffed without them.

Finally realise that Reimers only flair is on his feet and even those things make him look like a tool.

Carrazzo to hit more targets by foot than Watson.

Essendon supporters will be praying for Hille to return when they realise what happens to Ryder against "real"/decent ruckmen.

Apparently Jackman's next role involves a scene at the end where he gets shot and dies. On his recent trip to Melbourne he was in touch with Marc Murphy to get some pointers on this as he was so impressed with Murphy's amazing ability to look like he is near death on so many occasions in a football game

Jackman was absolutely amazed when Murphy told him that he was not acting but in fact he was just not man enough to play aussie rules. Jackman was impressed anyway and has since offered him a role in one of his musical ballet productions.

Plays with a daring that often leaves supporters with their hearts in their mouths but more often than not, it comes off.

Don't take my word for it, though. The delist Lucas threads directly after the match will be proof enough.

Except for the last game where Reiwoldt was close to BOG ?:confused:

Have you been taking a leaf out of your mods book? He shuts down threads to avoid having to answer question where as you simply ignore them because you dont have the power.

Answer my question.

"In football terms Einstein.

Or are you going to embarrass yourself as much as your nazi mod by trying to tell me that in round 3 Fevola and Lloyd played just as well as eachother because they both conributed 31 points to the scoreboard?

Your nazi mod got ridiculed after he made this ridiculous claim and instead of trying to save face he locked the thread to save himself further embarrassment. Piss weak effort but highly expected."

Fev played better than Lloyd did but failed to capitalise on his chances. And don't give me the BS that the Bombers forced him out wide knowing he'd miss. He was marking everything that came his way. Unfortunately those missed chances, bad heel or not, probably end up costing us the game.

Wasn't my point. Just replying to the poster who implied that Fev will be troubled by Limp Limbs. :o

Fev will do what he always does but we're a much more consistent team across the board than we were last year and even earlier this season. No longer are we relying on two or three to get the job done nor do we rely on Fev to kick all our goals.

Are you trying to take the piss? Please give us examples of the games you have won this season im which both Fev and Judd didn't have an impact?

I can give you examples of games you have lost because both Judd and Fev did nothing but i cant think of any that you won without atleast one of them playing well.

What does this tell you?

I was talking about his rebounding not his defensive efforts, Einstein.

Roo's beaten just about every defender he's played on this season but few have hurt him the other way like Bower did. As I said, he dominated in the first quarter but it's easy to do so when your team has all the play. Wasn't Bower's fault the ball was in the Saints forward line for the first 20 minutes of the game. After quarter time and particularly in the second half, Riewoldt didn't have much of an influence at all.

Tough tussle, blues might be favourites, but they were hot favs last time as time as well.

Essendon i think were at $8-$10 to win at quarter time. hahaha

Bigger names in for essendon, at the cost of some speed from the younger blokes, but i'm confident we can win if we bring our A game.

That the number of games we've played this season where both Fev and Judd haven't had an impact is equal to the number of teeth your average Pies supporter has?

The only two games where both have been really poor was against the Crows - by far our most deplorable effort this season. They weren't the only two to have quiet games that day.

Fev was poor against the Saints and Judd didn't have his usual impact due to the broken nose but it's hardly shaming losing by 9 points against a team who's won 12 straight. Our best patch of the match was when Judd was on the pine getting his nose repaired in the second quarter, at a time when Fev had very little impact.

You keep yours, we'll keep ours. Once we get Waite back, it'll be one of the best in the leagues. Has performed better than yours has this season. You're also forgetting our best shutdown player in AJ who'll comprehensively destroy whoever he plays on.

Hahaha so you think that because your backline has had less scores against it that it makes it better? Nothing to do with the midfield?

Waite isn't a defender, he's been played out of position for 2 years because you've had no one else! He's stopped no one!

Add Hurley to our backline and yours looks like Fitzroy's of '96!

Surprised Fletcher can even hold his arms out straight without them flopping down at his age. Hooker. :o

Hooker would be your second best backman behind Jamison. The rest have as much defensive capabilities as Louise Savage.

At 34 Fletcher is better than any Carlton defender so making a joke about that really makes Carlton look like hacks.

Bag Bower all you want - you wouldn't be the first. Doubtless by the end of the game you'll come away acknowledging him as one of the best young defenders in the league or else blame his brilliance on the ancient Lucas.

Bower is a soft hack who has as much intensity as Cameron Wood. You may as well bring Karl Norman back!

You clearly don't watch Bower play because he doesn't run off his man and leave him free when the ball's in a dangerous position. He plays off his man. Competes one on one and if he marks it or the ball goes to ground, he'll run the ball out of defence straight up the guts instead of getting involved in keepings off as most defenders do.

Watch him closely on Friday night and form your own opinion. Will be interested to read what you have to say.

enough of all these pointless insults, as a neutral interested in this match, and at risk of being shot down by all the big mouths on here, this is how i think this game will go down. (I will post this on both boards)

I think it will again be a high scoring match, as we have seen in recent matches between these rivals.
-Fev will worry the dons, as always, but from what i have seen dons defence has improved solidly since round 3. As we remeber, fev killed d daniher but last time i check he was running around for bendigo and since then hooker and pears have done a great job back there. i expect pears to go to fev and at least neutralise him.
-Judd also enjoys playing the bombers, but with prismall (massive inclusion, fantastic last friday night), welsh, mcveigh all inclusions from round 3, along with young reimers back and watson and lovett all in form, i see the midfields as somewhat equal this time round. Bombers have a great mix of inside and out mids this time round, and i see this as a key battle. Blues have the guns in the guts, but i think the ess mids are more rounded and reliable.
-For the dons up foward i would expect lucas to be shut down, he looks quite slow this yr despite finding the goals in the last few weeks. Who knows what lloyd will bring, he is up and down most weeks. The smaller ess fowards have improved however, and i can see lonergan and skipworth
strecthing , however hard to belive, the carlton defence.

SO i predict fev being neutralised, probably young pears or possibly hooker. Both have proven to be quite valuable this year. (see ess v hawth). The mids should cancel each other out and where i see the game being won and lost could be in the carlton backline. The are young yes, but they might just be able to shut down lloyd nd Lucas.

Concluding i see that essendon have improved sice round 3 where carlton have not. Remember back then the blues were top of the ladder and full of confidence, so i see no reason why an improved and slick moving essendon team should no win again....ESS BY 19

Easier said than done when you consider Judd's had just the truly poor game this season. Round 5 against the Bullies, a quiet game by Judd's standards and Fev relatively quiet as well. Neither poor but we didn't rely on either to thrash the Dogs. The last win when both have had truly quiet games was round 9 last year versus the Dockers - not because we don't win when both play poorly but because it's very rare to have both play poorly on the same day.

And don't misconstrue my words. I never said that Fev and Judd weren't integral parts of our team - of course they are. Every team has its stars, Fev and Judd bigger than most. If someone's down someone else will stand up, hence why we've only lost the two games by more than 10 points this season. Our best performed player in our wins this season would have to be Murphy.

Can't see why this isn't an easy win for the Bombers and I will be very disappointed if we lose as Carlton have shit all changes to there side except there best defender Waite out and the Bombers have gained some best 22 players and will be looking to field a very strong team.

To fast for Carlton and wont be able to keep up through the corridor with Lovett to dominate again, Fev to struggle and Carlton will not have enough goal kickers to make up the numbers.

Bombers a better win than last time by around 25 points

If we are within 3 goals a 1/4 time we will win. Carlton will be that pissed off given we have pulled down there pants on so many occasions in the last few years that they will come out breathing fire.

Fact is though that they will run out of puff and once again we will run over them.
