Now I live in Perth, so from a personal viewing perspective I cant really help you there Noose.
But from listening to the comentators in the last Box Hill game, they did say there were a few Afl recruiters at the game to just observe Curnow, Smithwick and I think the other was Pederson. :thumbsu:

I was at the weekend's game again, and if only on a player's assertiveness or self belief displaying their wares, Pedersen is all over B1, who lead reasonably confidently, found the space, demanded and received the ball, but then froze with decision making. As a result, usually it resulted in an ill-thought hand ball and a turn over. His expression on pge 67 of Melb's Herald Sun Monday said it all. It would make for a humerous questionairre: "What's the word I'm thinkin?"
Pedersen plays confidently and competently all over the ground, including in the ruck. I think he kicked 5 or 6 goals in round 1.
In addition Curnow, Phil Smith if he gets left side foot skills. Hayden Kiel is coming along very nicely.

Forgot one more player recruiters came to also see, that being M & M.
Commentators knew which club the recruiters where from but did not want to reveal on air for some unknown reason.
Agree with Kiel looking like a future prospect. Brisbane saw the potential years ago. ;)

Think the hawks would have loved M&m and Lucas Marcovic for the first half of the season... especially the way they played on thw weekend. Smithwick and Pederson look pretty good too...

My man Ed Curnow is one the Hawks will definitely look at. A surprise packet may be young Leigh Kitchin just out of the TAC Cup.
I'd have my doubts abot the likes of Markovic, M & M, Smithwick & Pederson, who are all around the 21/22 yo mark.
Phil Smith may rate a chance as a "third tall" if he keeps improving.

The first is the ex-Richmond listed, now Hawthorn rookie Carl Peterson, indigenous with ingenious skills, #48 and 22y.o. in the next couple of weeks. Carl is listed at 183 (6 ft) and only 70 meesley kgs, a healthy summer should have him ready for 2010 a reasonably regular spot in the first 22.
The other guy is Cameron Pederson, #8, also 22 in the next 3 weeks. A very mobile tall listed at only 194 and 90kg, but Cam has filled the shoes of Luke McEntee easily, but with score board influence and nous as well. Even at only 194, Cam is a presence whilst rucking, and very confident in probably all aspects of his game. Great contested mark. He was one of the Box Hill guys invited to do the pre-season with Hawthorn, and has benefited greatly from both that experience, and the departure of other talls from the BoxHill/Hawthorn list, which has thrown both responsibility and opportunity his way.

Re- Cam Peterson sounds very promising mate to be able to to take the Rucking Duties at 194cm does he play forward or Back or is he just playing as a Ruckman??

#8 Cam Pederson looks like he's still learning when he goes back. He looks both confident and capable anywhere else. But, when he does go back, he's got the benefit of playing in the company of M&M and Lukas Markovic who between them take the 1 & 2 most dangerous fwds.

Markovic or Stevie Kenna.
Stevie has an attack of the Liberatores, but he has for two years been the best week in and out.
Markovic should be centre half back in Perth this weekend, :(

Curnow wears no 7, Cam Pederson #8. But even though Ed Curnow is well tanned, I've never considered him to be indigenous. He's certainly the footy goods, doesn't turn 20 until Nov, already with the proportionate AFL build, assertive, with a good mix of skills and aggro.:thumbsu: Another chance today for him to make a statement.

Certainly Curnow; I'd be interested to know how he went at SANFL level while at the Crows.
Pedersen - what does his skill set translate to in the AFL? Too short for KP, more of a Tom Murphy role. I like him, but I think he has reached his level.
M&M is a trier and you have to respect that, but he is the second coming of Mick Martyn.
The smoky is Sam Iles. Nice turn of pace, uses it reasonably well.

Yeah I think it was Curnow. Cheers for that. Saw him in the game against Frankston. Awesome.
