It's another 50/50 match that Essendon will start underdogs. Bring it on.

Bottom line is, no-one expected us to do so well, so it's all cream on the cake. I'm just enjoying the ride!!!

1)........

you left something out.

collingwood play around boundary with stop start slow footy while we play the corridor with run and pace and take the game to them.

The only team this year that has made us look extremely amateaur was geelong and thats becuase they are essendon reincarnated from early 2000 when we dominated just like they are now

As usual, Essendon will go into the game as underdogs and we will come out victorious hopefully.

Yeah sure... But we can also play a bit of footy too & we have earned the right to celebrate this win in grand style. Plus the Pies will be without Medhurst, Pendelbury& Rocca.

Malthouse is a better coach then Ratten. While I can't see him changing his crabbing along the boundary, there is no way they will allow us constant dominance of the corridor.

Even if we lose, if we play with the wonderful pressure and desperation we showed last night I am sure we will enjoy the ride! :D

Pies have only beaten one top 8 team all year. They've had a soft draw lately and are riding high, just the way we like 'em.

you have remember the betting market is based on the money the comes in for teams. collingwood have big supporter numbers, theres no way the tab is going to put them anything but favourites otherwise everyone pie supporter will put heaps of money of them and the risk for the tab is that if collingwood win then they are going to have to pay out big

in saying that our numbers are big too, but i dont think we go to the tab as much which is why even last this week we went in at almost $3

Sure, no team should be underestimated, but i feel Essendon realises this now. Look at the Melbourne game; we had a convincing win when we should have against the bottom team. Also look at the final quarter against Carlton, instead of relaxing and saying "we've already won", the boys kept up with their play and smashed Carlton. I believe we should just start to trust our team more.

I feel the only real problem for Essendon is a Plan B gamestyle when things aren't going so well but that will come with time.

This is true, Collingwood have weaknesses too which we can exploit.

Good stat. That's a good sign for us. Although as the 8 stands now, we have only beaten two teams in the eight (Collingwood x1, Carlton x2). We have beaten Hawthorn also but they are not firing this year.

However i have confidence in the boys that we will win, and win with pride.

We don't have a Plan B. It's pure Roadrunner or bust!!

BUT did you notice the defensive pressure our forwards put on the Blue's backline? It turned them into a babbling rabble. They were being driven back right into our goal. The final ignominy was when their back couldn't get the ball out, so instead kicked the ball at Andrew Lovett's feet to get the ball out over the line. The umpire didn't miss that, and after some discussion, gave Andrew the free. This was blatant and it was surprising the commentators didn't pick it up and thought it was an umpiring mistake.

The stats will never show how many of our guys kept chasing Carlton players to put pressure on them, and this resulted in poor kicks, handballs and many turnovers. I mean, how do you put a stat on a guy who chases opposition players all over the ground?

I don't remember a complete game from Essendon like this one, and I just hope our guys are learning their lessons and will keep this up.

Bombers are flying and we have worked ourselves into a bit of a streak too. I hope the "sold out" thread is a crock, I am dying to be there.

...
7) Collingwood show more passion and desperation than Carlton ...

Except if we have a two-and-a-bit goal lead with 5 minutes to go, then we relax.:(

Great match up, we had a softer game but you had an extra days rest, Watson and Pendles out, so its all square...except for one thing.

Cloke has just shown a spark.

That was the happiest thing to happen to us this year, seeing number 32 take some one-grabs and get a bit ferocious.

Seems either they've only exhausted the allocations made so far or it's in real danger of being a sell-out as there are limited reserved seats availableand some premium seats to go also.

And like you, i want to be there myself..standing room might be the only option left.

With the tremendous effort they put on Friday, I think we owe them some confidence.

I ain't scared of the Pies, and I think we have what it takes to put them away. With Welsh back in, Prismall in our midfield, Pears, Lovett, Davey going bezerk & Ryder doing even better in the ruck, I'm all for it. Topping this off with the return of McVeigh, we are a much stronger team in comparison to Anzac Day.

For the first two quaters, the Pies struggled to cement a healthy lead against Freo. We are not Freo, and they've got a lot coming if they think we'll be that easy!

Reimers to give them an overdue hiding. :thumbsu:

BRING IT AWN! :D

Pretty simple, if we chase, tackle and harass the enemy like we did on friday, we will win most games than not regardless of opposition. (St Kilda and Geelong obvious exceptions ofcourse).

Bring the same game boys.

Also davis and medhurst will play, rocca wont and pendlebury is a very outside chance

Really looking forward to this, hard it real good contested footy match
