The 2nd practise match has been announced and is to be played up here in Bendigo on March 8. The QEO is looking great, especially with all the water the council has been pumping onto it via a temporary dam in the local creek.
Should be a great day, and personally I can't wait to see them play here after training here a few weeks ago.

The Western Bulldogs and Essendon will go head to head in Bendigo this weekend for the annual AFL Tynan-Eyre Challenge Cup.

A capacity crowd is expected at the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo to see these two Melbourne-based AFL teams in action and at the same time, raise money for the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation.

The match is in memory of murdered police officers Constables Steven Tynan and Damian Eyre.

Constables Tynan and Eyre died after being shot in Walsh Street. South Yarra on October 12, 1988.

The Blue Ribbon Foundation perpetuates the memory of the 137 police members killed in the line of duty. Money raised at the match will go towards new medical facilities at the Bendigo Base Hospital.

Supporters of both clubs can travel to Bendigo on a special train service, the Blue Ribbon Express. The Blue Ribbon Foundation and V-Line are providing the train service.

The train departs Spencer Street at 10.35am on Saturday 8 March and returns to Melbourne following the match.

You can obtain a free return train ticket on the Blue Ribbon Express by ringing Glenice at the club on 03 9680 6100.

Alternatively, tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children and concession holders.

Refreshments, competitions and prizes will all be available during the two-hour journey to Bendigo.

Blue Ribbon Foundation Chief Executive, Neil Soullier commended both clubs for taking part in the challenge and for bringing AFL action to regional Victoria.

He said Bendigo and the Blue Ribbon Express would give Essendon and Western Bulldogs supporters a unique football experience and a great family day out.

“I encourage all supporters to take advantage of the Blue Ribbon Express, which allows them to travel to and from the game in comfort,” he said.

“This is the third time that we’ve been able to run the Blue Ribbon Express to a special, country event and they’ve always been great fun.”

Money raised in previous AFL practice games has gone towards building the Tynan-Eyre Trauma Centre in Bendigo and the Foundation hopes to fund additional projects during 2003.

“This would be an excellent chance for Melbourne people to make a contribution to one of Victoria’s important regional hospitals and to see great football action,” Mr Soullier said.

The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation ensures those police members killed while serving the community are remembered by the wider Victorian community, by giving financial support to worthwhile community projects in Victoria.

Specialised medical facilities in public hospitals already funded by the Foundation gives treatment to over 50,000 patients each year.

Supporters who wish to book tickets on the Blue Ribbon Express should call the Blue Ribbon Foundation on 9555 8000. Tickets are not available through V-Line or other outlets.

So lets hope its a great game and lots of money is raised.
And lest also hope that the doggies come away with a big win.lol.:D :D :D

Good win by us today up here. Ended up winning by 71 points.
Our backline today was very impressive, especially after Wellman went down in the first quarter and was taken off to hospital, not sure what happened though. Jacobs impressed big time today though.
Lloyd killed them with 7 goals.

Just heard out Wellmans injury is a pinched nerve in his neck and he should be alright.
