Do you think that umpires should be required to wear protective equipment? I think it is about time, even if this was a freak occurence.

Can I suggest that being 72 played a large part?

No need for protective equipment, this is a one in a million situtation.

Sad news, feel sorry for the guy and his family.

Must have been watching the line for a close run out, otherwise his eye would have been on the ball. Must have been thrown from behind him?

How bad would you feel if you were the lad that threw it though?

I smoked some old bastard in the back when I was over there. He didn't move from the position and a run out was on. He hardly moved afterwards as well. Nobody knew if he was alive before that and afterward well, it was still hard to tell.

Haha.

My favourite thing in cricket is hitting a batsman who chooses to run between my throw and the stumps. I caned a guy in the helmet once. It rattled the shit out of him.

Next over he put three of my offies into the fence!

I remember Haydos drilling an umpire in the forearm from a drive down the ground when he was playing for Queensland.

I think he broke it, if I remember correctly.
