Discuss the Sri Lanka vs West Indies game on this thread.
This day/night game will be played in Cape Town and the West Indies will be hoping this ground continues to bring them good luck, following their opening victory against South Africa.
Sri Lanka will want to bounce back after a shock loss to Kenya on Monday. Futhurmore, Sri Lanka will play South Africa on Monday, so a victory today would almost assure them a spot in the Super Six stage.

Go West Indies, then go Sri Lanka against SAF and then go Kenya against Bangladesh. This will put SAF and NZ out of the cup. something that would bring immediate and unrestrined joy to my good-self.:)

Oh come on. and deny ourselvs the entertainment of another South Africa stuff up a la Donaldson in 1999. Now that was unrestrained joy. Especially as the south african bloke I was sitting next to in the pub started to cry lol

Nope, I would rather see them do the same thing NOW. They will be a real danger if they reach the Super 6 stage. They remind me of the Aussies in 99, believe me they wont keep playing this badly if they get through, would rather see them NOT get the opportunity

I hear what you are saying but it really is such fun letting them get close and snatching it away at the last minute. They just get so upset.
No seriouly i agree with you. I feel the same way about England as i live here at the moment and remote chance though it may be the thought of them beating us sends cold shivers down my spine. I will be much more relaxed when they fail to make super six.

That game has me nervous. An England win could very well put them through to the Super 6 which will cost us 4 pts in the super 6 stage. The law of averages worries me too. (13 in a row against England)

I'm excited for this game!
Go Windies - hoping to see some classy batting from Sarwan and a biggie from Mr. Lara.
Should be a corker.
Is this the crunch game of the tournament so far?

Yeah, I would say so.
Sri Lanka and Sth. Africa would also be up there.
So was the England and India game, though.

Please don't say that, my life would not be worth living. Can't even bear the thought.

SL won the toss. Batting.
I was looking forward to watching the Windies bat while I was mostly awake, but so be it. Go big Merv!

sri lanka win by 6 runs and the west indies can almost start packing their bags. a close finish, but in the end, the West Indies supposed strength, their long batting line-up, let them down with an inability to hit boundaries.
wavell hinds, hopeless as usual (2 runs)
lara, an unconvincing 1 run off 22 balls
hooper, golden duck
jacobs, third ball duck
powell, 1 run off 3 balls
4 runs from 5 batsmen sums it up really

I thought it was a good effort by the West Indies to get close after losing those wickets early on. Gayle played well for his 55 and then Sarwan did really well at the end after being hit in the head by a ball and having to retire hurt, went to hospital, then came back and nearly got his team over the line. Drakes also did well in support, making 25.
The West Indies need a miracle now to progress to the Super Six stage after this result. They would need to beat Kenya in their last game, hope Sri Lanka beat South Africa or Canada beat New Zealand, (yeah right!) and Bangladesh beat Kenya tonight for them to make it.

WI can feel very ****ed off about the umpiring last night (particularly Orchard). Jayasuriya obvious caught behind given not out. Ridley Jacobs given out caught behind after hitting his boot with the bat
