Yes Steve, the Taj is open.
Mr Fricker of Northern Tavern fame has complained to the breweries that volenteers are manning the can booths at Prospect, & that it`s illegal.
So if it`s illegal at Prospect, guess what, it`s illegal at all SANFL grounds. Expect a 7k bar tab to be budgeted for out of your final takings for the year.
For anyone taking grim satisfaction from the Roosters having court troubles with the pokie barons, you were told, these greedy arses with their new found friend Mr Xenophon will be trying find a way to stop any sports clubs taking profits that are (in their minds ) rightfully theirs. First off banning new venues for the pokies, now taking 63k out of the nine SANFL clubs for daring to use unpaid staff to sell bevvys to us punters.
If you really believe that the Eagles, Norwood,Sturt & Port are going to be able to move thier pokie venues without a fight, think again.
Norwood & the Eagles already have hearings due with the Halfway & Norwood hotels protesting venue changes. Port Magpies from what I believe are trying to open a venue at Salisbury.
Rant Over.

Volunteers illegal? FFS, that's how clubs make money, through volunteers.
Let me guess, that bloke from the Northern Tavern doesn't support the local team.

It looks like those rather pleasant ladies who serve in the northern beer booth at Unley are gawn.
Check out with your club to see if your pokies are to be moved, just interested to see how the other clubs are faring.
I heard the Blues were looking at a site on Unley Rd. Watch the Cremorne slap a lawers writ on ya the minute it`s proposed.

From what I have heard it is not a new venue but a total refit of an existing venue with no extra pokies required that is currently run by a very financial member of the club......

Sturt actually wanted to buy the Cremorne at one stage but left it too late (after the pokies were in full flight) and the hotel was out of their reach price wise. If they had made an offer when pokies were first approved it would have been a different situation but 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing. I guess none of the clubs expected the pokies to be a financial burden, more a financial saviour. The government cocked it up big time by allowing every venue to have the damn things, Nick X should be fighting against the mini casinos that have replaced our watering holes rather than sporting clubs trying to make a living.
As for the volunteer issue, can the clubs pay their volunteers a token amount to make them paid workers? Or will the mininum wage come into it?

Sounds rather odd to me as it would mean many events that are held to raise funds for charities would be under the same banner.
Added to that is every country town or community group that runs a bar at their sporting and social events would be committing the same offence (not that I believe they are) as most people manning the bars are only paid by being allowed to consume the products on sale.
I wonder if the said Tavern ever supports or supplies stock to any events like that as they would then be guilty of the same offence by association.........

It`s not in black & white atm but the paperworks in.
If it affects the beer booths at Prospect you can bet it will be statewide. See, one rich little piggy gets the hump & it affects social/football clubs everywhere.
As I stated before, this court action won`t just affect the Roosters, these ****s run on greed, any way of protecting their nest eggs is fair game, no matter who they bulldoze in the process.
