I noticed on the BigFooty Boards that the Brisbane Lions Message Board had by far the most messages out of all the club boards.

Maybe Brisbane Fans know a bit more about Footy than a lot of Victorian supporters think!

The rest of Australia knows more about footy than Victorians think.

I think it's also a reflection of the 'official' web site forum. It lost it's charm when they sanitised it.

They cannot legally condone anything which could be slanderous on an official forum. That is why Bigfooty is such a good service.

However I would never slag off the Hawks in a public forum - much better in a private one

I just love those OCCASIONAL comments by snobby Victorians about how they understand/appreciate/follow the game better than us non Vics!

My fav was the Vic who attended the Gabba & sat in front of me & on surveying the ground said

"gees this grounds small - our juniors play on grounds bigger than this!"

I told him that in fact the Gabba was (then) 1m shorter than the MCG & almost exactly the same width. He refused to believe me...

Everythings bigger & better where we come from isnt it?

I remember one incident from the early rounds of the 97 season when Caaaaarrrlton made one of their very rare trips to the SCG.

The Swannies absolutely towelled them that day, the Blues looked old and slow as we just blew them off the park - a great win, very satisfying.

As the game ended and we all got up to go a Carlton fan sitting in front turned and said to me

'You're not Victorain so you don't matter'

LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD ********

cheers

Footy people are footy people no matter what state they live in. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif Hell, I am sure there are Queenslanders who know more about our great game than I do!!!!!!!! LOL. Yeah I know all the rules and stuff, but you know, most of the history stuff is just way over my head LOL. Lived and breathed footy for as long as I can remember (being Victorian, it was kinda inevitable I guess) but yeah, I don't think I am above anyone from other less footy-mad states. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif Jacs

Talking about footy and knowing about footy are not necessarily the same thing. Have a look at some of the topics on the Brisbane Board. For example, "Fave Bands/Singers'' and "Where do you all hail from?" are not exactly football topics are they? I've got no problems with these topics I should add. However the volume of posts on a Board doesn't necessarily reflect football knowledge either. Just remember also, the Brisbane Lions do have 10,000-16,000 supporters in Victoria, many of whom, including myself, post on the Brisbane Board.

I thought hard about posting...but couldnt resist - sorry Lions fans from Vic, but my post was aimed at some of these comments that have surfaced from supporters of other clubs who have a superior attitude towards non Vic supporters & wanted to take them down a peg. I did not want to start a slanging match - oops.

We have our share of idiot supporters here in Victoria (G4E being the main culprit), but judging from the main board most people here take in what's been written, not taking note on where the poster lives.

G4E started that stupid "Victorian sporting superiority" thread and he copped a pretty big bagging from everyone, Victorians included.

As the Lioness wrote, footy people are footy people, no matter where they live.

I think that the number of posts made by us lions fans is just an indication of how support for the lions is BOOMING...

The admin. staff at the lions aught to be congratulated!

Not a good idea, Josh. If we did that they might actually believe they're doing a reasonable job. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
