Saw it yesterday. It's good but not great, and I'm a big Depp fan.
I felt like there was an element missing, can't quite put my finger on what exactly.
But yeah, it was good. Worth seeing.

I was thoroughly underwhelmed.
It had this weird combination of feeling like it went for a long time, but nothing much happening and not much character development.

Saw it last night and like the other 2, I was underwhelmed and thought there was something missing. They never really introduced side-characters either, just kind of expect you to know who they are.
I saw it and thought it was just ok. There is something about it that just doesnt work though. I didn't leave it feeling like I had learnt anything interesting or new about Dillinger. It just wasn't that interesting. Also some of the gun battles kind of drag on and become a little tedious. I didn't think Depp commanded his character. Same with Bale. I kind of felt like the main characters were missing even though they were in pretty much every scene. It just doesn't grab you.
I think a film about Dillinger as a youth and his early years would make a more interesting film.

This is sounding like Heat set in the 30s.
The big name actor of the era (DeNiro/Depp) plays a thief while the other big name actor of the time (Pacino/Bale) tries to catch him. Enjoyable enough film, but something about it just doesn't feel right. Ultimately, considering the actors at his disposal, Mann dishes up a disappointment of a picture.
I watched it today and I just thought that it was an alright movie, not the best but just alright. Like JTH stated before, it felt like it dragged on without anything major happening. There was no real character development and I just felt that it wasn't that great. However in stating that, I assume that this movie is more for the American people and thus they have a greater understanding of the American crime history in the 30s.

I've only seen the trailers, but the picture qualty looks to have been discarded, for closer shots and better angles. Which in my opinion doesn't work.
A lot of handheld shaky camera work, I might add as well.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
I left the cinema with this overwhelming "meh" feeling after seeing it. Even my Johnny Depp obsessed girlfriend didn't really like it either.

I liked the film but its a long way from being Mann's best (Heat and The Insider). The high def digital cameras provide highly detailed shots but they lose something in terms of smooth camera movement with no long tracking shots.

High def cameras make the picture look sterile. I don't like them.

It was okay, I spose. It was way too long. A few inaccuracies.

I have to follow the trend of the board and say Undewhelmed is the most apt word.
It just did not elevate me to any sort of excitement.
It was not horrible, but I got to the point I was tapping my feet, looking at my phone and generally wanting to leave.
I have not been so dissapointed since I saw Deniro/Pacinos latest effort.
4/10 for me.

Karmichael Hunt left this movie halfway through. Must be bad...
