The fact that they haven't played Clark in the past two tests, particularly this one is a disgrace. With the current line-up we have a very limited chance of getting ten wickets. Clark provides control, and inevitably the batsman makes a mistake. Hilditch & co should disappear, time for Steve Waugh to assume the position !!

couldn't agree more, these selectors have rocks in their heads and have so for a long time, the poms would be stoked clark isnt playing, and how hussey maintain his spot is beyond me

Agreed, Waugh would make a great selector.

And it is amazing, just amazing that Clark didnt play in the first test let alone the current one.

Concur.

The non-selection of Clark is absolutely baffling, we have our most experienced, most successful, most acclimatised, most suitable bowler - sitting on the ****ing sidelines.

Incomprehensible.

Poor selections arguably cost us the home South African Series, and were a factor in the Indian Away Series.

Seeing Merv in his 'special comments' role doesn't fill me with any confidence what so ever; and you get the suspicion that AB & Junior don't rate him either.

So who is on the selection panel then?

Hilditch as chairman not convinced

Jamie Cox? Not convinced.

Merv Hughes? Not convinced, especially watching him on Fox seems to be more interested having a good time!

Who else is there?

It needs a huge shake up, get guys like AB, Taylor and co invovled.

AB & Hohns; full time.

We don't need anybody else - but have Mark Waugh (really impressed with his analysis of the game, and also the fact he calls it at he sees it) and Steve Waugh consulting, plus Warne.

We are the laughing stock of the cricket world currently. Our 2 opening batsman won't even be opening for their state this year! The number 4 ranked test bowler in the world can't get a game and our number 1 spinner wasn't even a full time member of his own state! Our number 1 keeper can't keep wickets and our number 1 bowler can't swing the ball and needs a back up in the side! Someone needs to be made accountable for it.
I bet in any other workplace in the world if it's leaders were making such poor decisions, they would be held accountable.
That's unless we are tanking maybe??? Gotta be the only explaination!

Have to agree.

The non-inclusion of Clark (particuarly after our diabolical bowling performance in the Lords test) is baffling. If he's not named in the 4th test than Hughes and co should be stripped of their Australian citizenship and trundled off to Easter Island where they can live out the rest of their life polishing those gargantuan heads with toothbrushes.

The Governor is going to have his say for the day.

I think there should be massive changes on the selection front and the coaching front.

Tim Nielsen is the wrong man for the rebuilding phase of Australian cricket. We need a teacher-educator-motivator who is a good communicator and the ideal combination is a Steve Rixon-Darren Berry coaching team. Steve Rixon is the man to coach Australia during this transition period. He has the results on the board.

We forget the fact that John Buchannon was manager of people than a coach. We had the team that was built on the foundations of Swampy Marsh and to a certain extent, Bob Simpson.

And, I think it is about time to sack the whole selection panel and appoint a full time Cricket Manager of Operations (A Neil Balme-Steven Icke role) role who oversees the selection of our test, one day, 20-20, Cricket Academy scholars and under age competitions. This full time position will have the job description of overseeing the Australian Cricket department (coaching, selection, injury management).

Under this structure, the CHairman of Selectors and Selectors will report to the Cricket Manager of Operations on a periodic basis on team selections. ANd, the coaching panel (The Head Coach, bowling coach, fielding coach and physios) will report to the Cricket Manager of Operations on a regular basis.

The Cricket Manager of Operations will handle the administrative side of the coaching and selection areas of the Australian test side, one day side, 20-20 side and under age teams. He will also handle the media duties. HEnce, the person will have excellent interpersonal skills and has the ability to deal with people at all levels.

In other words, his role will be similar to Neil Balme's role at the Geelong Football Club. Hence, the coaching group can focus on coaching and teaching the 11 players in the test side, one day side etc.

The ideal candidate for the Cricket Manager of Operations is a former test player who has management experience. The ideal man for this role would be: Dave Gilbert, Graeme Wood or Mark Taylor.

And, I would look at revamping the selection panel. Here is my selection panel:

CHAIRMAN: Allan Border
SELECTORS: David Boon, Steve Rixon, Jamie Cox and Merv Hughes

time for Steve Waugh to assume the position !!

eeew, don't know about that but he'd make a great selector;)

any combination of the waugh brothers, border, taylor etc would be outstanding. when we've got such a wealth of impeccable cricketing genius and experience at our disposal its just bizarre that we stick with the mugs we have now who are proven failures. i'm all for ditching the lot of em so that no trace of their rotten ideas remains behind.

You know whats funnier? That Clark isnt even the next quick in line. Selectors seem hell bent on playing Lee if fit ahead of Clark.
