Ok guys here it is, must win game for the EFC this Saturday night. The question is who will get the job on big Jono Brown.

Micheal Hurley (193cm) - Will match him for pace and height. Overall fitness could be a worry as Hurley has missed quite alot of footy thus far.

Tayte Pears (191cm) - Will have the pace and fitness to keep up with browny, however not sure how he'll go with the body on body situations (giving away lots of size).

Cale Hooker (196cm) - Definitely has the height covered, not sure about the strength, if T-Bell gets a run this week to give paddy a chop out in the ruck Knights might just try this match up

Dustin Fletcher (198cm) - Well we know what this man is capable of, but very rarely gets the best forwards. Could be an option late in the game if the game gets tight

This is all presuming Daniel Bradshaw doesn't come up (hope not anyway)

If Bradshaw doesnt come up, all of them. Brown will need to kick another 5 or 6 to win.

Give Hurley the first crack, with Fletch helping out.

Pears --> Merrett/Bradshaw

Hurley. Will towel him up with his superior muscle strength. ;)

Nah those two should be a good contest.

I'd love to see either of Hurley or Pears on Brown.

Personally I think they'll go with (assuming Bradshaw plays):

Pears - Bradshaw. Pears manhandled Bradshaw for 3 and a half quarters last time.

Hurley - Brown. Definitely a good match-up for size and speed. However Brown will have him covered for strength, which is why:

Fletcher to play loose man for support. Worked beautifully a few years ago with Mal Michael taking Brown and Fletcher playing third-man up.

They'll all get a go on the big fella, as will McPhee. We'd be much better off trying to cut off the feeds from half forward.

Nathan Lovett-Murray.

Fletcher 10 yards in front - Pears right next to/behind Brown

Won't matter if we have King Kong on him if we put up the same midfield pressure as the last two weeks.

Hurley with Fletcher guarding the space, as I prefer Pears to run off his man, his delivery into the 50 is exceptional.

It won't really matter, Jono will kick 8 anyway.

Bradshaw looks like returning - the AFL cracking down on 'defenders'. This doesnt look good...

Bradshaw looks like returning - the AFL cracking down on 'defenders'. This doesnt look good...Brilliant; they wait until the end of the season to 'crack down' on blatant cheating within the game.

I've been watching this sort of thing happen for years. The Bulldogs game was a classic example; Brian Lake was holding and interfering with Lloyd's leads all night, yet the umpires were completely oblivious to it. This sort of tactic is the ultimate sign of concession of defeat, and the sooner cheating tactics are eradicated from our game, the better. :thumbsu:

I'm guessing that Tayte Pears will get the first go at him.

Considering knights has been playing hurley on the best fowards in the last couple of weeks i think he'll get brown. he can match him for pace height and body to body work.

Another option is obviously pears. has proven he can play on the best fowards and do a good job at that but since hurley has been in the team knights has been playing him at CBH in a different role.

Last but not least if brown is having one of those nights he normally has against us you can throw the always reliable fletcher on him.

You are not wrong - chances are the 'crack down' will last for one or two weeks, and once Lloyd comes back it'll be forgetten, and he'll be back to getting held and harassed again...

Yep. This is the key. We've shown that we're able to think through double/triple teaming, loose men in defence etc, when our midfield is given space and time. We are then able to hit up alternate targets and work the ball around to look for the free man. Pretty much the way we beat the Hawks in Tassie.

Where our boys fall down is either when we can't get our hands on the ball or when the opposition applies significant pressure. That's when we revert to long, aimless bombing into the forward 50 and that's when Brown and Bradshaw can be beaten and even exploited on the rebound as Maxwell, O'Brien and Shaw did last week when we struggled against the Pies for more than half the game.

Win in the midfield and your young defensive brigade will have every shot at beating Browny and Braddy.

Centurion's a pretty solid poster, but overall the defeatist shit that's been posted on here lately has been terrible.

0.5 to Brown tonight? Well done Tayte, well done Bombers.
