With all possible permutations considered, is there a realisitic chance we could play an elimination final against the Blues if we do sneak in? How big would that be?
I suggest we all head off to the church/mosque/synagogue/temple right now to say some prayers..

I just did the AFL ladder predictor again and two games in round 22 are pretty significant to this happening (providing we beat Fremantle in round 21, not confident there):
Carlton v Adelaide (we'll play the winner of this if we scrape in)
Hawthorn v Essendon
Carlton 5th, Essendon 8th, please make it happen!!!!!

I'd love to see a Carlton / Essendon final, or Carlton / Collingwood or Essendon / Collingwood for that matter.
Unfortunately we just don't seem to have them going around in the past decade.
Sure, the losses are painful under the circumstances but the wins are: MAGNIFICENT!!
Secretly, I'll be barracking for you guys to make it in front of those dirty Port People and Hawthorn. (Just don't tell my fellow Carlton posters though;))
I would love to see another Carlton V Essendon final. If we scrap into the eight I firmly believe we can make the semi-finals.

Yeah i'd love to see this matchup happen too but the Bombers are just not top 8 quality.

In an ideal world we would beat them by a point and go on to play in the Grand Final only to lose the inevitable, just to replicate what they did to us. Only difference would be that they aren't a guarantee to win the Premiership if they make it...

If we miraculously made the finals a Blues Dons game would be massive. They have so much to be afraid of... When was the last time they beat us?

As Carlton will finish 4th, the only way you will play us is if we lose our first final and you blokes manage to win that first elimination in Brisbane or Adelaide.. :D

Anyone read the age this morning. Who ever finishes eight will be the worse team since Brisbane in 1995 and 1997 i believe to make the finals

Carlton will not come 4th, 5th at best. I can see them coming 6th though as they are prone to drop easy games.

Eliminating Carlton the first week in would be perfect revenge.
Last time I had an argument with a Carlton supporter he said "Ohh, perhaps remind me what happened the last time we met in a Prelim?" "We beat you by 45 points you f*cking idiot!" Blues supporters so often forget that.
Anyway, let's hope it happens. The outcome promises to be epic bragging rights since it has happened in almost a decade.
