After South Africa's poor showing in the World Cup, Shaun Pollock has been sacked.

Shall be interesting to see who replaces him. There doesn't appear to be any leaders in the team, so it might be a tad difficult for the selectors to find an adequate replacement.

Surely they won't give it to Herschelle Gibbs.

On recommendation from the National Selectors and with input from the National Cricket Committee, the General Council of the United Cricket Board of South Africa has decided to relieve Shaun Pollock of the captaincy of the South African national team with immediate effect.

An announcement tomorrow (Sunday) will name a replacement captain.

The issue of the vice-captaincy of the national team will be addressed by the National Cricket Committee on March 27th and by the General Council on March 29th.

"Shaun is a very valuable member of the National Squad and is one of the world's best all-rounders. He will continue to play a vital role in the team," said UCB CEO Gerald Majola.

I can't really see a stand out candidate maybe Kallis or Boucher.

I'm a Kallis fan, but I don't see him as Captain.

Neil McKenzie? Apparently he's rated as a leader.

Boucher is reportedly very invidually focussed.

i'm not sure if this was a smart move on behalf of the south african cricket board. seems like a knee jerk action.

I think that Sean Pollock's sacking is a farce because he's been successful whilst at the helm.

I think that the South African Cricket board has made the biggest mistake yet.

I think that this was the wrong decision.

Pollock is a good player and Great captain and yet he is getting blamed for this just 1! bad Tournament.

I thought that Gibbs should be Captain but Smith? Pretty strange decision considering he has only played something like 30 International Players.
