There is probably a thread on Survivor Gabon, but for those who have just started watching it on GO! and want to avoid spoilers then feel free to discuss it here. I though it was a good first episode. Randy is probably my favourite so far. There are some quality chicks on this season. :thumbsu:

About time this season saw the light of day. I caught it all online already, but I will follow it again now it's on TV. It really does look great in HD. Some really nice scenery in Gabon as well.

Nine's new channel, called Go 99. It's mostly Seinfeld repeats and all the stuff they don't show on their main channel, like Survivor and Gossip Girl etc.

Yeah the scenery is very impressive. Michelle was a right pain in the arse so it is good that she has gone.

- Who makes the jury? No clue but hopefully Ace.
Haven't seen any episodes or read anything so these will probably be way of the mark. Answer's above in bold.

I had some moron ruin this season for me, I was waiting to see it on TV. Doesn't matter too much because Regional WA won't get these extra channels for a long long time, so thus it is not to be.
New season (no.19)starts in September. Hope its good, because I heard that Season 20 (Gabon is season 17) will be the last.

New season (no.19)starts in September. Hope its good, because I heard that Season 20 (Gabon is season 17) will be the last.
I don't know where you heard that because that has never been stated and in fact it looks as though Survivor may continue past season 20, even if Jeff Probst leaves.
For anyone who hasn't heard, the 18th season is Survivor: Tocantins, which is in inland Brazil, and it has already aired in America.
Season 19 will be Survivor: Samoa and it premieres in the US on September 17th I think.
Season 20 is filming right now, also in Samoa, and looks as though it will be an All-Stars season, possibly with the theme Heroes vs Villains.
I really hope those sources were indeed dodgy, but Survivor wouldn't quite be the same without Jeff IMO. He has been there so long, it would be like having a cheeseburger without the cheese if you get my drift.

Mark Burnett seems pretty keen to keep it going and is still checking out new locations. Given that he and Jeff are apparently good friends, I think he will be able to convince Jeff to stay with the show and keep it on air. I'd love Jeff to continue hosting too. He's a key part of the series.
I really don't want season 20 to be the last, but it looks like it'll have a great cast. There's a rumoured cast list flying around but I won't mention it in here as it contains spoilers.

The first few episodes of Survivor are always a bit ho hum I think. Most series really hit their stride after 4-5 episodes. Survivor is one of the best shows on TV once the Tribes merge :thumbsu:

Being surrounded by quality seasons like China, Micronesia and Tocantins makes it seem much worse though.

I think that's a pretty good summary. I think in recent years Fiji was worse than Gabon, but being in between a stellar stretch of Survivor seasons such as China, Micronesia and Tocantins makes Gabon look worse than it is. There are certainly a few big characters who come out of this season and it is still definitely worth watching.

Fiji is widely regarded as one of the two worst seasons of Survivor (along with Thailand). Jeff Probst has even been on record saying something like he wishes Fiji had never happened.
The "fantastic cast" consisted of Yau-Man and Dreamz, there were no other big characters. The next best thing to come out of Fiji was Boo's casting skills, as he has referred both James and Russell H to CBS for Survivor.
In saying this, it's Survivor, so I still enjoyed it, but it is widely acknowledged that Survivor was at its lowest after Fiji and its recovery began with China.

Agreed. Fiji was OK, but at the end of the day, it was my least favourite season. The only season where I wasn't shitty if I missed an episode.

The last two episodes have been pretty good I think, after a pretty uneventful stretch. Glad to see Marcus go, it makes the game more interesting. Pulling for a Matty or Ken win.

Fantastic series, loved the look of Corrine and Charlie when they realised their main alliance partner had been booted, and loved Kenny questioning them why he deserved it more than anyone else, the little computer nerd is playing a good game and could possibly win the thing. The blindsides are great, generally the game rolls along fairly predictable, not in this series though, anyone who thinks they are safe are gone.
I would like to see either Kenny or Sugar win, but in this series it's been so unpredictable so to have a red hot favourite to win is foolish.

I have no problem with the lying, you are there to win a million, too many of these clowns get caught up in the whole * honourable game* line. It's a game and you do what you can to win.

Was pissing myself when Suze won immunity. Initially I thought what a lame ass challenge but that was almost more unexpected then CHARRRRRRRRLIIIIIIIEEEEEEE getting the boot.

One of the better survivor episodes i've seen, how funny was the look on Randy and Corrinne's faces when they realised what had happened. This is the best survivor series i've seen, so many of the players don't realise they are being played.
It's hard to know who will win due to the way it's being played out.

One thing i can't figure out is that Crystal apparently represented the USA at the Olympics but is so ****ing hopeless she cannot win a single challenge. In the first episisode she couldn't even make it up a small slope & the older contestants all beat her with ease.
She has no fitness, no stamina, no balance, no strength. All she does is act like a mole & moan. No wonder Randy couldn't stand the sight of her.
I don't know who wins this Survivor but i am sure hoping that it is not her.
Sugar also shits me - That thing about the Cookies was pathetic & petty yet she was deluded enought to suggest it was Randy who was acting like a child over the thing. And he's an alcoholic cause he likes a beer or 2??!! Bitch!!! :mad:

I've been following this series on Go! I missed the first few episodes, but I'm just finding it hard to really enjoy this series. It's been pretty mediocre and there doesn't seem to be any of the players that I actually like. Hopefully it'll start to pick up.

You'll like Tocantins then, as the cast is full of likeable people. After a season like Gabon, which has a pretty negative cast, Probst raved about Tocantins as it is "full of likeable people and very different to Gabon", and I totally agree. It is one of the best seasons.

Quality episodes tonight. A lot of people don't seem to like Gabon, or said it was a let down compared to the awesome last season, however i'm finding this season quite enjoyable and exciting. Some really interesting plays going on. Agree that there are less likeable people on this series however i'm gunning for Matty (if not him then sugar)

I think you are underestimating how much Crystal was disliked by the other contestants.
Of the remaining 5, Bob & Matty are the 2 only likable people left. Sugar is a waste of space - she got completely manipulated & lied to by Kenny & its only now that she realizes it ??? Just how stupid is she?
I'd be wanting to take Suzie along with me with the final 2 as she is pretty much disliked by most of the jury ..
Should be an interesting finish.
Carning for Bob all the way. Just have really disliked Kenny for the past couple of weeks which is a shame.

I actually like Suzie. The only people I do not want to win are Sugar, she is a bitch, and Bob. I like Bob, but I do not want him to win because Corinne, Marcus and Charlie all want him to win and if they want him to win then I do not want him to win. Corinne, Charlie and Marcus are self-righteous wankers. Corinne is the most dislikable contestant in Survivor history, even worse than Johnny Fairplay.

Thought it was a pretty ordinary end to a really good season. No one really made a compelling case as to why they deserved a million dollars, and no one really asked a question which really provided any additional information other than i want to show my kids and my children how to try blah blah blah.
Bob deserved to win, but can't help to think how good a bob v matt show down would have been.
Corrines a bitch her comments were way to harsh and good to see she's copping a ribbing from the crowd

Looking back at previous seasons, I remember Parvatti playing a similar role to Sugar (with less crying), and she ended up winning a series, so I found it a bit strange that Sugar didn't get at least one vote, seeing as she was the main instigator in a number of decisions.

Kenny - Man he really needed to get over it, just the look on his face at tribal, ughh. And I don't know If I missed something but wasn't Sugar and Matty content with voting Suse out before tribal...? Was it Kenny's comments that made them switch?
Randy was awesome that he took 6 strangers with him. Was a gun in the serious, one of my faves. Funny that Crystal did actually win gold...who woulda thunk it?
Overall I thought from the merge onwards it was really good can't say I liked too many players but the way they played it made up for it.

Sugar was not playing for the win, she was playing for Fan Favourite (which she ended up losing to Bob somehow). She deliberately took the good guys (Bob and Matty) as far as she could, to create a positive storyline for the audience, with good prevailing over evil (coincidentally in a season subtitled Earth's Last Eden).
Corinne is a slag, would love to have seen Sugar get up and break her nose. Arrogant mole.
Bob owes Sugar about $500k for getting him to that point, she went out of her way to get him there. She pretty much knew she wasn't going to win, so picked who she wanted to win most out of Bob and Matt.
That Randy is one ****ed up bloke. Reminds me of the sort of guy who would sit out the front of a primary school in his car.

Was a great series but would have liked Randy to win it - very amusing guy. I liked his Taxi Driver psycho mohawk when he was on the jury.

Sugar played a good game until the last few tribal's, should have taken Kenny and Susie with her, had no chance of beating Bob. Dissapointed Sugar didn't get any votes i thought she played a decent game considering she had no clear alliance thru the game, just goes to show how bitter some people can get when they lose to someone they perceive to be a leeser person than them.
One of the better survivors i've seen, the amount of blindsides was fantastic and kept the series interesting, and after watching Randy last night, it's amazing he lasted so long out without going crazy and hurting someone, the guy would have been scary to be around i would have thought.

bob definately was the most deserving of the win since he was on his own out their and beat them all. Kenny really made a fool of himself at the last few tribal councils going on about the imunity even after he got called out for planning to backstab him in return.

Dissapointed Sugar didn't get any votes i thought she played a decent game considering she had no clear alliance thru the game.
She was pretty damn stupid to vote off Ace, her only actual ally - all because she believed Kenny's bullshit. She must have been pretty gullible because i thought Kenny was blatantly transparent & sneaky.
I thought she might possibly win it though before the final tribal council - i assumed she'd put on a few waterworks, and susie wouldnt get a vote etc and pull in a few votes - But it seems she wasn't liked by anybody there - which Probst made a point of saying at the reunion.
Corrine ... Man, what can i say .. i liked her during the show but she overstepped the line bigtime with that 'dead father' line - Some things you just don't say even if you think them. I wouldn't even say that stuff on an anonymous internet forum let alone on a prime time TV show.

Disappointed that Sugar didn't win the fan favorite $100k, she certainly deserved it. She played the game better than anyone else there. Bob won immunities, which was great, but he didn't do a heck of a lot of planning and scheming apart from that fake idol. Plus Sugar saved him twice for no particular reason other than he was a good guy and practically handed him $1million on a silver platter.
Why the hell did Suzie get 1 vote away from winning the whole damn thing? Just another boring coat tail rider that managed to fluke an immunity at the critical stage.
Just watched the finale then after trying to catch up to GO! since I returned home from overseas.
Favourites were definitely Sugar and Matty. Thought Matty looked like a top bloke and loved some of Sugar's plays.
Agree with others in that the final tribal council was pretty dull. Also Sugar seemed to be happy to not fight for the win but just be herself and see how many votes she'd get. That's the reason she was clearly outvoted by Susie.
Looking forward to Tocantins.

Yep Tocantins, and Samoa is six episodes in.
Survivor 20 (possibly an all-stars version) is current about to shoot or shooting in Samoa too.

I was thinking they should have got Richard Hatch to return - so i googled it & found he only got out of jail this month .. before going back in !

BOSTON — "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch says he's the victim of a "witch hunt" by federal prosecutors.
Hatch completed a tax evasion sentence earlier this month. He complained to NBC's "Today" show Tuesday that he was taken from his sister's apartment while wearing boxer shorts in August and held in solitary confinement for 30 days after granting TV interviews without permission.
He called it "the worst time of my time in prison."
But Barnstable County, Mass., Sheriff James Cummings says Hatch refused to get dressed when deputies arrived to take him to jail. The sheriff also disputes that Hatch was in solitary confinement.
Cummings calls Hatch "a stranger to the truth." A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Providence, R.I., would not comment.
Hatch was convicted in 2006 of failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won in 2000 on the CBS reality show.
