Yes, 'deed they do. I was going to buy the Norah Jones album yesterday, but noticed the copy control sticker on it. My mate Phil bought a CD a few weeks ago that refused to even be recognised in my work PC CD player. What's with that? I listen to all my music as mp3s on a computer. I don't even OWN a regular audio CD player. I have an iPod. So you mean to say I can't listen to the music I bought, on the devices of my choice? All it takes is ONE person to make an analog copy and put it on a peer-to-peer network and BANG! that's your whole copy protection scheme down the drain.

I'm actually a "responsible" user of p2p networks, if there IS such a thing... I use it mostly as a try-before-you buy scheme. If I like the album, I will usually buy it. I WAS going to spend $25 on a CD, but instead I downloaded it off kazaa. Well done, record companies. You wanted to prevent file-sharing, well you just drove me to it. How d'ya like THEM apples?

By the way, the Norah Jones album IS very good. Great voice, very cruisy... Buy it if you have less issues with copy protection than me

I have issues with copy protection - I have my entire CD collection on my computer at work, it would suck to not be able to listen to my music there without lugging 10928309 CDs in.

I have a way around this... 90% of my music is on vinyl. Yes, new music still gets released on vinyl.

Before you go on about it being analog, or prone to deterioration, well CD's are prone to damage. Also, the frequency range of vinyl means that it has deeper bass, not to forget the warmth.

I can convert it to digital with small amounts of loss and to be honest, there's not much difference to the ear.

Long live vinyl.

Thank you, DJ Royal ;)

naturally when doing an analog copy to mp3, the compression to mp3 means that there's sod all difference between a digital and analog copy anyway!

But I guess I'm just a lazy bugger who likes ripping tracks off CDs in 10 minutes with the ID3 tags filled in automatically for me off cddb! :D
