Thought he really turned the corner today. He was hard and tough just like last year. Stood up in tackles, locked the ball in at stoppages, ruthless at the man with the ball.

I think we'll have our old Mark McVeigh back by seasons end, and watch out next year if he keeps himself fit. Great to see!!!

I still think he struggled a little today, but maybe that's just due to the high expectations i have of him.

Definitely deserves his place in the team though.

Nope. Was still a liability. He'll get a spot next week due to injuries but up until now he's been getting a game purely on reputation.

sheesh your a tough wrap on the bloke. thought he definitely stood up today and played a solid 4 quarters of mostly midfield...really held us together in the last when we were dropping like flys too.

completely agree.
was marginally improved today against the saints, but still amongst our poorer performers for todays game.....looked one step behind the pace for most of the day and was exposed when the ball was outside stopage situations.....

I think I remember Goddard running down the wing in the last quarter, and Mcveigh giving his all to chase him but was absolutely stuffed beyond belief.

The negativity on the board lately is getting a bit boring.

Remember seeing Goddard on the bench at least twice in the last quarter...

McVeigh was very good today, still not using the ball as well as last year, but his attack on the ball was sensational. Won many a lost ball today.

continuity.... that is all he needs.

Spot on! with regards to corner turned I meant effort, desire and passion, it seemed far better than weeks past. Using the ball better will come with more games and increased fitness!

I thought he was good. He was very tough around the contest and won a lot of hard ball, just what we needed him to do against a side like St. Kilda.

Best game he's played in a while. Expecting him to back it up next week with an even better one.

It would have been good if these consecutive games started a few weeks earlier but if we can win this week maybe he can get some of last years form back by the first final. He is still one of the best kicks of the ball in our team and he would take a lot of the pressure off Watson and Stanton.

He stood up and contributed in one of our best team efforts of the year. This would have been a massive confidence boost which is exactly what he needed. Spike will keep his spot in the side and should lift again and contribute to locking us into the finals this year! :D

His pass to Neagle in the first term was vintage Mcveigh. Hopefully he can continue to improve and help us win the next two games.

There were a couple of other nice things he did in the game. He is no where near fit though so we'll have to continue on playing him in the forward line.

When the players went over to the crowd, did anybody notice him grabbing and pulling his jumper, then kick a ball into the crowd? He absolutely bleeds red and black.

Yeah he also said "F*** yeah" and did a fist pump in front of the crowd about 2 minutes after the match was over, the passion on his face was amazing. This man lives for Essendon.
