A couple of months ago somebody, sorry I can't rembember who it was, started a thread about Luke Power and discussed the way he plays. I thought that this was a really good idea, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling again, this time going up by player jumper number so that we don't forget anyone.

Now we've alread discussed whether it was right or wrong for the club to give Des the number 1 jumper and the fact that their is talk that he still wants to go back to Perth.

I think this is make or break season for Des. He either performs this year and gets a game almost every week and actually does something, or else he becomes one of those fringe players that doesn't get a game and his talents go to waste.

Towards the end of last year Des played further up the ground. I think this is a good move. He should be roaming around in center square area looking for the loose ball to then set up a goal, either for himself, or for one of the forwards, like a loose man in the CHF position.

What do you guys think?

ahhhhh! my favourite topic - our Des.

more game time, to toughen him up.

did well at end of last year

mental immaturity holding him back, but will develop like Black & Power have in the last couple of seasons.

hopefully keep him playing for the Lions

i think des has alot of potenial and he really needs to stand up this year, otherwise he may not be a valuable asset to the team - although i'm not disputing his talent or ability.

Brisie_LionsGal,

This was a good idea - are you going to continue? No 2?

Someone who Des respects needs to take him aside and get him focussed - back to basics, team plans .. you don't have to win the game off your own boot. Luke Power's progress from suburban footy star thru the move interstate and early struggle to now a major ALF player on a top salary has got to be the role model for these 'big-fish-small-pond" wanabees who feel they deserve success and can't accept the setbacks that will inevitably come ( unless you're THAT good , and you're not ).

He should have some modest goals and work on being in the team plan - e.g. running half-back , in a similar way that Chris Johnson finally cracked it last season. Des, you've got something .. don't blow it because many have before and possibly regret that now.

Oldlion, I think that Craig Lmbert has taken Des under his wing and trying to give him guidance with his football, especially the fitness side of it.

Yes brissy_lionsgal is correct in saying that Lambert has been putting in extra time with Des (hehehe my second fav. player)...
He has more focus on footy now...
He knows he has a job to do with the TEAM...

BRING ON SEASON 2001 !!!!!!
