Jason Winderlich and Cale Hooker have been named in Essendon’s squad of 25 that will fly west to take on Fremantle this Sunday and possibly secure the Bombers’ chances of playing finals.
Injury has forced Patrick Ryder (knee) and Courtenay Dempsey (hamstring) from the side this week.

Edited: Quinn doesn't deserve to be dropped. Every time the ball went near him on Sunday night, he was on the bottom of the pack. Deserves another game. NLM to pinch hit in the ruck. At least contest against Big Lurch. I'd be happy with that.
Fletch. Mr Gadget himself is still in. Hahaha ... love the guy.

B: Greg Broughton, Chris Tarrant, Marcus Drum
HB: Roger Hayden, Luke McPharlin, Paul Duffield
C: Garrick Ibbotson, Paul Hasleby, Chris Mayne
HF: Stephen Hill, Antoni Grover, Hayden Ballantyne
F: Des Headland, Matthew Pavlich, Nic Suban
Foll: Aaron Sandilands, Steven Dodd, David Mundy

Out: Dean Solomon (knee)
I like the look of the team but I'd like to know who's gonna be kicked out. If Winderlich's okay to play then he definitely should. So from that interchange I'd probably want Jetta, Quinn and Hocking in the emergencies. Not that Quinn and Hocking don't deserve a game, the other options just look better.

Fletcher, man i love you, i really F***ING LOVE YOU :D
Quinn doesn't deserve to be dropped, and i really want to see Jetta play, but the emergencies my guess would be those 2 and Daniher. Gotta play Hooker (Bellch pretty much all alone against Sandi??) play Winderlich assuming he's fit, play Pris, and i can see Hocking being left out to keep Quinn in, but Hocking should be in there.
Id really like to see darcy get a game but just can't see that happening.

Hocking and Hooker are Dempsey and Ryder's replacements.
Prismall and Winderlich... well they're shoe ins.

I love you Dustin. Thank god he's playing.
Bench will be Prismall, Winderlich, Quinn and Hooker. Hocking, as much as I like his tagging is far too slow on the Subi ground. Daniher will only come in if Fletcher isn't fit.

Bit of a double edged sword playing fletcher. He is MASSIVELY important to our defence, but we simply can't afford to have him go down with a 2-3 week hammy strain now. I would, despite the importance of the match, consider resting him and dropping darcy into the hole at CHB.
That said, Freo at home is a massive, underrated challenge for this club. I feel that we will know before sunday that we are playing to lock in a position in the eight. I almost just wet myself with excitement.

I dont think Fletch should play unless absolutely 100% fit...
If he breaks down during the game leaving us a man down.. what then, chances are we'd probably lose the game and be without him for the following week as well..
If he rests this week, then he would probably be more fit /capable (albeit with a jab) to play the Hawks and help us make the finals.
Surely this makes more sense than risking him breaking down this week & losing him for the season..
Darcy & Hooker & Windas should replace Fletch, Dempsey & Ryder.

Come on people, the Essendon fitness staff aren't just pulling random names out of a hat. They aren't going to play Fletcher if he is going to "break down" within 30 minutes of the game starting. Give them some credit...

The fact Fletcher is still left in says how important this match is. Im not saying he would be picked unless the fitness guys thought he could play but normally with speculation and an element of doubt like there has been with Fletcher, he would get rested. To see the coaching staff and medical staff pick him is a good sign, they are not underestimating Freo and know how important a win is.

Knights isn't one to play games. He must be a good chance to play, though they'll test him again.
Winderlich in is massive. Hope he's 100%. If he is I think we'll win, but it won't be easy.

Completely agree. It said that he didn't even tear the muscle and it was just sore, yet major media outlets were saying it was a 2 week injury.

Winderlich to HB and Hooker obviously to play as a 2nd ruckmen. Quinn has done enough to stay in and we will need his pace to implement our frontal pressure.

Regarding the players to come into the side:
Cale Hooker, Jason Winderlich and Leroy Jetta will come into our squad this week.
So that's..
Regarding Fletcher:
Dustin Fletcher did a portion of training today and, at this stage, he pulled up very well. We will see how he is feeling in the morning though before making any decisions on whether or not he will play. His scans were clear with no damage so we are going to give him every opportunity to come up this week.Looks like he may play

I have very strong man love for Fletch too, but indestructible
I dont think he has ever played a full season, from a quick calculation I think he should be playing his 396th game(if all things were perfect). So that means he has played 78% of the games he has been around for, think Brad Johnson when you think indestructible he is running at 94%.

I don't think it will be a big issue if Fletcher doesn't play. Pav has been playing in the middle and with Pears down back we should be fine.

Have you seen Dustin Fletcher? he would be blown over by a stiff breeze. It is remarkable he even became an AFL footballer, not to mention one of the best this club has ever seen.
He wont play? We are talking about Dustin Fletcher here people. In 5 years time, when teams are going forward against us and kicking long to the square, we will all be sitting there saying ''Shit, we miss Fletch''. The man is the most reliable footballer I have ever seen. He might not be 100%, but he will be tricking Knights like nothing else to make sure he plays. And win lose or draw he will be one of our better players.

Very happy for Atkinson, and have my fingers crossed for Bellchambers and Hooker v Sandilands.

Turn it up dude. A return of 8 possesions and 2 goals is hardly setting the world on fire or displaying that he plays at Subi well. It is probably just bordering on a par effort for a forward pocket, if that.
The fact is he has played 1 good game at Subi so all of this talk about him playing the ground well is rubbish.
