has been given the "tap on the shoulder" from melbourne... wants to play on.. interested?

. 10 games 27 goals

. no pre-season

. coming back from injury

. 31, 2 good years maybe.

. Would cost you nothing to recruit.

Love Robbo, but it's not the direction I want Essendon to take. So pass.

kelvin_sheedy

Only once in his entire career has he kicked more than 45 goals a season.

Considering he's teetering on the edge I'd say no way no how.

Massively overrated good ordinary player.

I'll say no. We are fine in the small forward department.

Nope, no chance. Although it would be good to see him leaping for speckies in the red and black. But seriously , NO.

Otherwise no thanks.

if Lloydy retires it would be because he thinks essendon is better served by getting more time into the key forwards. why the hell would we then recruit another old bloke

Just to keep around at the club? ... Teach the kids how to take a hanger :P

Remember Robbo has been getting the delivery of a under 12's game into the forward 50 each week and been playing on the best defender. I think he would thrive at a club like Essendon with better delivery and he could always take the attention off one of your other forwards and free them up a bit.

No thanks. I'd rather Courtney Johns back at EFC then Robbo.
Besides we have a Robbo wannabe in John Williams. :o :p

Massively overrated footballer even at his best. Why the hell would we pick him up now when he plays like an old man?

Even his "hanger taking abilities" are massively overrated. Take a look at his grabs, he either hardly gets off the ground or needs to use his hands to get up.

Can't even believe this entered the OP's mind.

How many AFL goals have you kicked? 0!

How many has Robbo kicked? 400!

i wouldn't mind having him, i would just rather have player's like Remiers and Monfries filling the roles

No chance, he'd only hinder the development of other players by taking up a spot in the forward line ahead them.

No. Robbo doesn't fit for us... inspite of the article on AFL.com and whatever Lyon and Roos are doing.

I think we are in need of a medium forward who can kick 40 goals a year and apply very good pressure. Robbo would have been nice in his prime. Played well as an undersized CHF. Has had a good career and should retire gracefully.

All he does is try to take speckies and show off, we already have reimers we dont need another

How many AFL goals have you kicked? 0!

How many has Robbo kicked? 400! Still doesn't take away from the fact he's an over-rated average footballer.

No, no, no, no, no.

As Dusty said, I'd honestly rather Courtney Johns back than old man Robertson.

I would be physically sick if we even considered recruiting this washed up show pony.

His talent with the microphone matches his general ineptness on the field. My favourite memory of Robbo was this year against the Hawks when he marked in the goalsquare and attempted to do the impossible by trying to kick it while still on the ground, which as a result was easily cleared by a Hawk defender. The guy needs to look up 'forward pressure' in the dictionary as I doubt any club, even Fremantle, would even consider him.

I think it's alot easier for you guys as Essendon Supporters to just opinion yourselves towards passing on the oppotunity rather then putting a good man down for no reason whats-so-ever. No offence.

Russell Robertson is a very passionate footballer, some of you considered him some sort of a show off and such but... We all know the truth. Robbo wears his heart on his sleeve, he loves what he does and he take's pride in everything he's achieved in his career.

If he isn't the right fit for your footy club, i can understand that, i know where your coming from. BUT, to put a fellow legend of the game down just because he's not required at your club is a little... hardfelt don't you think? Go easy on him, he's a champion. Ohh and one more thing, if you think he didn't get high off the ground taking his signature screamers throughout his career... just for an example you should go back to the pre-season cup a few years back against west coast, Robbo was up, up and away :D

Just my opinion.
No intent to offend whats-so-ever.

Terrible. We're discussing who to delist and you bring up his name?

No way. So overrated and terribly undisciplined. Does not strike me at all as having anything we'd want. He'd be a small forward in a forward line with Monfries, Lonergan and probably Reimers vying for spots. Not to mention skipworth tends to get played off HF as well when he's in.

No

Whats that got to do with anything, dipshit?

Handy Hf/Fp type at his best, now he is a hack.

It's an unfortunate thing that modern day football and clubs "rebuilding" is seeing more and more players shown their time before it's due. I'm a huge Robbo fan and think that he's had terrible delivery and his team mates lack awareness going into the forward 50. However no-one will pick him up in the draft. They (Melb) should have kept him for another year while Watts gets up to speed.

It's totally hilarious how is going to try and impress everyone in his final two weeks by playing well and actually attempting to run, chase, tackle and do the hard yards - something which he hasn't done for a long time, if ever. Carlton's defence is brittle on the best of days.

Good Luck to the dumb club who falls for it, if they do. It won't be this one though.

Robbo kicked 5.2 today.

Must have been a good game for him. Pity they were few and far between in an ordinary career made to look better due to his "entertainment factor"
