No. Doesnt matter how far Australia fall. This man disgraced the sport of cricket and should never return to the national side. The integrity and spirit of the game > the winnings of Australia

Man, you really are holy!
What would he be the solution to, exactly? Not batting - barring the replacement of Hussey, there's not much wrong with our batting order. And with Hughes, Marsh, Jacques, Ferguson etc in the wings we're not short of replacements. Our bowling is woeful but Symonds' offspin and increasingly-rare medium pacers is not going to solve that.
All in all, we're pretty well-off for allrounders with Watson and North playing the way they are. A lack of penetrating strike bowlers is our problem, and Symonds is not that.

He's a gun:
Explosive batsman who will compliment Clarke and North in the middle nicely.
Very handy off-spinner. Good medium pacer.
Best fielder in the world.
Intimidates other teams.
Good on the shout apparently.
He brings a lot to the table.
Symonds isn't the solution.
We need to find a group of bowlers who can not only take wickets, but also build pressure. We just leaked runs far too easy this series, that was the main problem.
That said, I think the quick bowlers we have now are the ones to do it, they just need to learn how to bowl as a team and work for the guy at the other end.
What we need is a world class spinner to fall out of a tree. What happened to all those kids who took up leg spin in the Warne 90s era??

We're not short of batsmen though. In all respects our batting has been pretty good, barring the first innings collapse in the last Test. And there are plenty of young batting options out there.
Very handy off-spinner. Good medium pacer.
We've already got a very handy offspinner who bats well. His name's Marcus North.
His medium pacers used to be good but he hasn't bowled extended spells of that in a long, long time. Anyway, I hardly see medium pace being the solution to our current bowling woes which centre around the lack of strike penetration.
Best fielder in the world.
Great asset, but not a dealbreaker.
Intimidates other teams.

Meh. We don't need another batting allrounder at present, sure he's a good one but he doesn't fix the weaknesses in the team.

Never let that hack back in the XI again.
Do the idiots on this board realise the guy is 34/35, not 30?

Ding ding ding.

It would be nice, but I think we'll have to be realistic and settle for what we've got.
Warne and MacGill spoilt us - really, outside the subcontinent, there are precious few world-class wickettaking spinners out there. Most sides have a container, if they bowl a specialist spinner at all.

He's also a 34yo alcoholic who only 3 months ago got his CA contract torn up for his third disciplinary breech. It's just a slap in the face to all the young cricketers who try so hard to get into the side that someone with Symonds problems can keep getting that second chance.

Barley did anything wrong, is he still being hung out to dry somehow on Indian board of control orders i wonder?
He brings a lot to the table.
Scotch and Bourbon mostly, from all reports.
Too old to go back into the team when he doesn't even want to play for Queensland.
