Hosted by Magda Szubanski, The Spearman Experiment is a pop-culture program that uses online polling to count down and rank the nation’s most celebrated moments. This is a countdown show that’s interactive, current and very much ‘of the people’.
20 to 1 meets voting reality shows?
$5 says Magda's weight-loss 'journey' makes it onto the countdown
need a "write-in candidate"
Just what we need....another show with celebs nobody knows who they are

It will get a full season out of desperation but rating will say it should be boned within 4 weeks.

there's a quota of aussie tv that must be met yes?
there's a quota of aussie tv that must be met yes?
Yes there is,but surely Ten easily meet that target without this crapola. They have a lot more Aussie content than Nine.I think these types of shows are just cheap TV,which is why you see all these panel/count down shows like Spicks and Specks,Rockwiz....etc popping up more and more

Op pretty right.
Basically just 20-1 but less entertaining, if possible.

I enjoyed it tonight, but that was mainly due to the quality they were counting down... 15 best Australian comedy characters... makes you realise how poor Australian comedy has been in the last 10 years...
The Australian Fast Bowler, Pixie-Anne Wheatley, Russell Coight, Uncle Arthur, Les Patterson, Norman Gunston, Kylie Mole, Poida amongst the characters in the countdown...
Kath and Kim predictably came in at number one, Crocadile Dundee number 2, Ja'mie Jonah and Mr. G number 3... No Shaun Micallef characters got a mention unfortunately... Thought Fabio might have got a run... Kenny, Chopper and Strauchnie were the others I think
They're not going to have topics like that every week unfortunately, then it will struggle... And who was that 14 year old kid they had commenting on the comedians, he clearly hadn't heard of most of the characters on the count down...
The lack of David McGahan confuses & infuriates me!
Op pretty right.

It was a complete rip-off of 20-1,just minus the host with a bad wig.The only positive it had was it didn't have those radio celebs that nobody outside their state has ever heard of.They did have someone called 'Hoppo'
Considering most other celebs were from Ten I can assume he's from Bogan Rescue. He looked a surfie dude. There was also some grey haired comedian I'd never heard of.
What idiot at Ten decided to put it up against 20-1 ?
Magda is really, really, really far away from being a drawcard TV host. If you want to reinvent the wheel of an existing TV show you need something a little more impressive than a C grade star who gets B grade roles because she's fat.

I wish these shows would dedicate more time to actually showing excerpts of the nominees, rather than useless soundbites from "TV personalities".
Tonight's show wasn't bad, but it could have been pretty good if they had shown a bit more of each character. Also, Dame Edna: biggest injustice since Nick Riewoldt the night before, how did she not win? but to come 4th, behind Lilley, Paul Hogan and Kath and Kim?
Please Australia. Dame Edna is our biggest export, both literally and figuratively.

Who was the chick that did most of the talking during the 'Fast bowler' segment at the start? I'd never seen or heard of her before (same goes for the 'fast bowler' character, actually).
I lasted until the first break.
It was nothing more than a lame attempt at an 'edgy' 20-1, so basically they've ripped off one of the laziest, cheapest shows in the history of television.

The show lost any creditibility when "Straunchie" made the list. Enough said.
Best bit was Nikki Osborne's appearance... Should have her own show and i'd certainly tune in :D

Well known lines and catchphrases are much better when delivered by B grade celebrities in a contrived strain...
"That's not a knife, this is a knife!"
- B grade celebrity
<h.simpson>Haha, he did say that in the movie.</h.simpson>
After watching the channel 9 version I'm sure that quite often they weren't even aware of what they were talking about until they were sat down and given a refresher on the subject. Vague video clip references for example.
Where the hell was Ted Bullpit last night?
Who did they poll? 12 to 21 year old kids who happened to stumble on whatever site they had up online?

This made me ill and I had to fast forward past this unfunny fat idiot.
Mildly entertaining mainly as someone said because of the clips as Magda was ordinary and I had no idea who most of the commentators were:confused: I did like "chopper" though he's always good value.

I wondered that. The ads for it said something about it being a public poll.On the website it says this
That’s right for the first time ever, Australia will countdown via online poll ranking the most celebrated top of mind moments in history

Ten's naming of their shows is heinous.
Project? Experiment?
They could at least grow some balls and not make excuses for their shows before they even air.

Haha, how good is it when 20-1 has a music countdown and the 'celebrity' commentary is simply them singing the chorus of the song.
THAT'S MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE THAN HEARING THE SONG.
And, of all the shows to shamelessly copy? They pick the laziest, timeslot filler there is. Wow.

You also wonder how unbiased the poll was. Seemed to be a lot of comedy characters from Channel 10 shows. ie. Strauchanie, Russell Coight, Chopper from the Ronnie Johns Half Hour, Kylie Mole from The Comedy Company, The Australian Fast Bowler from Skithouse.
Surprised David Tench and that bloke that plays the dumb Shane Warne type character from The Wedge wasn't in there as well.

That unfunny lardarse gets in but Maggie Beare doesn't.That shows you the people they polled were mostly under 25.

Don't forget unfunny people wheeling out the exact same tired old jokes about each subject. The only benefit is making fun of all the D-List celebs and, like last night, getting a really nice shot of Rickie Lee's cleavage.
It was pretty average show. THe host just didn't have the charisma to pull of the show.
Like someone else said I don't understand why we don't get more of the actual "event" than some dumbshit telling how much we like it.
A poor man's 20 to 1 and that's saying something
Hahaha. I actually tuned in during an ad break or something of another show and saw one of the people on it saying "You just watch it and you criiinge".
Oh the irony.

Apparently Ten selected those who would make the countdown and then simply asked people to rank those 15.
Explains why the choice of the 15 was so skewed to characters who appeared on Channel 10.
This week's topic is the Top 15 celebrities who need a stint in a concentration camp. Interesting to say the least.

I'd pass on that anyway. Ricki Lee is very average and it must take a helluva bra to get those dog tits pushed up for some cleavage.

I was bored and searched the 'net for this mythical poll. Couldnt find it anywhere.
So, in conclusion, the one point of difference from 20-1, that people vote for the list, isnt even included in the show?

Richie Benaud will actually be doing the countdown of the top 20 countdown shows in real life at this rate.
This show has got to be the worst thing I have ever watched.

What exciting topic did they have tonight ?
I saw from the ad it was Aussie underdogs. They were tossing up names on the screen, one of them was "reggie" from big brother? Was that sposed to be a joke?? a big brother contestant where half the population won't even remember who the **** she is?

Here's a topic The Spearman Experiment can do next week - top 15 shows that were axed after just a few episodes

Those figures are shocking but the 7pm project isn't much better and they are sticking with that.
Seriously bad show - a poor (very poor) version of 20 to 1. It might last another one or two weeks but that will be it.

i managed 10 minutes out of morbid curiosity.
Life is too short to be wasting time watching utter shit like this.
