Anyone else seen this film yet? Thought it was brilliant, though I am extremely biased. I have been collecting DD, SPidey, Xmen, Hulk, Captain AMerica and FF for a long time now and can't wait to see the rest of Marvel's film projects in the future.

Here's my review:
I got to see the film today and I have to say I thought it was brilliant. . Aspects of the film I liked:

fight scenes - sensational, much better than spiderman / xmen / blade IMO. The head on DD v Bullseye on the street had a real 'wow' factor to it.

music- its been canned by a lot of people but I thought it worked pretty well, captured the urban/underground feel to the story. I especially liked Bullseye's theme.

Jenni Garner - say no more!

shadow world imagery - a good interpretation of DD powers, and it gives an insight into MM's world.

I enjoyed the whole whole revenge / justice theme - it allowed the film to have some sort of story with action rather than just introduce the characters (a la Spidey)

I didn't think all the charatcers were really given the chance to develop very well - their characterization was very rushed. All and all though I felt it was a pretty good representation of the character (even if it did take a few cinematic liberties). The little in house cameos, name dropping and props added a faitr bit to it as well IMO - payed resapect to the people who made it possible and gave the fans something to snigger at.

Probably the best comic to film adaption I have seen.

Actually she is the main reason I am in two minds about going.

Whatever she may be, she aint Elektra Natchios.

Sorry SOS but Im a long time collector as well and to be honest Jenny Garner appears as Greek to me as MacDonalds.

Do like Affleck on the previews that I have seen, not to certain about Bullseye and think a black Kingpin is cool (and lets face it the guy playing him is about the biggest bloke they could find)!

Still at least I have seen a first 'thumbs up' for it so I might now be quite as negative a mind-set when I do actually get around to watching either on DVD or at the pics.

Cheers.

ps the only film I would really hang to see would be a good FF film. Only because I would love to see a Dr.Doom on screen (a well acted and cast Dr.Doom that is). ;)

Cheers.

Fair call Grendel. Being a comic to film adaption there are always going to be differences and the director will take liberties with story / character descriptions etc. With comics being such a visual medium, the reader really does have a mind set as to what things should look and act like. Affleck, to my suprise, was able to pull it off very well. He WAS Matt Murdock.

I thought the same thing about Garner / Elektra but for the films sake was able to accept it, much the same as having a black Kingpin (although the character wasn't given enough time / explaination.) For what it was, Daredevil was a very good film.

Fantastic Four would struggle on the big screen IMO. Too many characters and a little too wacky - I doubt audiences would be able to accept the characters and their abilities. From what I have heard about the possibilty of the film it sounds as if they want it to be a bit of a comedy, high on cheese factor. I think I'll just stick to reading the books.

Xmen 2 and Hulk look very promising as well.

Admittedly, I saw it. I have no interest in comics or whatever although I did get some enjoyment out of the film.

The music was a highlight, I would agree in saying it captured the underground essence of it. Top pickings.

I could never watch it again, being one of those types of films in my regards.

A decent viewing though. I mainly went to see Jennifer Garner as I miss Alias dammit!

The film was OK without being spectacular. Soundtrack was a highlight, but most of the acting was predictably cliche'd.

I'm not a huge comic fan but it was an alright movie. Colin Farrell was the best thing about it.

Farrell should have played DD

I havent seen it yet but I certainly will be seeing it soon, perhaps this weekend sometime. As I havent seen it I cant comment on it but it seems like thier are a few comic book junkies in here so I though I would ask you a few things...

Superman....who should play him in the movie, if it ever happens?

Batman....who should play the caped crusader if a Batman 5 happens which is the rumor. IMO bring back Keaton, the best Batman by far!

Not a question as such but an observation on Spiderman, I thought the movie was great but the Green Goblin's suit was stupid. He looked like one of the bad guys out of a Power Rangers episode. Almost ruined the whole movie.

Jod,

Any casting of a new Superman will be very difficult. After all, Christopher Reeves WAS Superman! I don't think that anyone would be able to capture the same magic that he did with the character. A few names that have been thrown around: Brendan Fraser (The Mummy, Mummy Returns, Monkeybone etc), Vin Diesel (Pitch Black) and Smallville's Tom Welling. I don't think Diesel would be appropriate for the role - Welling has done a good job with Smallville, there could be some interest in him? Christian Bale is another.

Batman 5, I think they are going to do Batman: Year One. I magine they would go for a younger actor for this one. Haven't heard much at all about it.
I agree with the Keaton statement, but I also thought that Kilmer wasn't too bad either. Clooney was crud.

The Goblin's suit did look a little like something out of Power Rangers but I don't think greent tights and a rubber mask would've come across too well on screen either. I didn't hate the costume, but yeah it could have been done better. I suppose the producers didn't want him to look much more evil / darker as it would've put kids off going to see it.

Yeah I heard that Brendan Fraser was attached which IMO is the wrong move. I like him in the Mummy movies but he would have to be more serious in a Superman movie and I dont think he can pull it off. Vin Diesel is all wrong. Too gung ho, can you imagine his scenes as Clark Kent....just wouldnt work. I was going to say that Tom Welling would be brilliant in my first post but was afraid of ridicule.

If I was choosing a new Superman, Welling would certianly get the nod. I also heard that Nicholas Cage was attached but then he passed on it...?

I liked Kilmer aswell. Clooney was terrible but I cant really blame him as the direction and the writing in Batman 4 was truly terrible. Just a bad bad movie.

Cage as Superman.. bbbbrrrr cold so cold. Nearly as cold as Keaton's Batman (frozen with Kilmers, absolute ZERO with Clooney).

Trouble with all the Batman's is that simply put, they are physically to small. You need a BIG GUY in the role. A really big guy in the shape of a Rocky Mavia type big. At least 6'5 and 260lb's in great shape. Where you going to get an actor that size? :( I'm really in the dark over who they could cast. I know who I would like to cast but he has totally no chance (Dylan McDermott of 'the Practice'). Right age, nearly big enough and has that brooding quality that a good B.Wayne should have. Hollywood would never go for it though. :(

Sort of the same with Supe's (though you don't need quite the build as Reeve proved). Needs to be fairly tall and good shape. Fraser might actually be able to pull it off I reckon. Showed some very decent acting talent in 'Gods and Monsters'. Welling is okay on Smallville but doubtful (to me anyway) if has the charisma to make a go of the 'big screen'. You need the 'all American boy' for the role. Fraser I think can look the part (that movie he was in where they lived in the bomb shelter???) proved he can play the nerd. 'The Mummy' has shown him play the hero. I reckon they could do worse.

As for the Goblin suit, feh.. As SoS said, a rubber face mask and green flair tights would probably have looked worse. See what happens when they bring in Harry (if they bring in Harry) as
G-Goblin mkII in the sequel. Doc Ock's arms I am looking forward to watching though.

Oh and if they do the 'Ghost Rider' movie then there is only one decent choice. J. Depp.

Cheers.

For news on comic related films check out the comics 2 film section www.comicbookresources.com
There is some current stuff there regarding Superman and Batman projects.

As for Daredevil, I thought it was a fairly solid effort. The action scenes were good, the storyline had every cliche ever used in a comic book movie and lacked humour. I thought DD was a bit more of a smartarse. Does'nt matter either way, because this July HULK WILL SMASH PUNY DAREDEVIL!

I believe that! Hulk is going to be awesome and it won't be the first time he's kicked DD's backside: HULK SMASH PUNY DD (http://geocities.com/ajwaffles/daredevil.html)

Will Hulk smash XMen 2 which is out May 1st? I saw some of it on the Today show this morning and while I am not a mutie fan, X2 looks pretty sharp.

I have kept my distance from the X2 scene - I loved the first one so much i don't want to spoil the sequel, I know about a few of the new characters and such but I am trying really hard to just let it blow my mind, from some of the things I have heard about it from some blokes who just couldnt wait it will be awesome.
