Foxtel rapped over R-rated broadcasting

PAY TV provider Foxtel will stop showing R-rated programs after being found to have broadcast too much sex and nudity in several shows.
In the first case of its kind concerning an Australian pay TV provider, Foxtel told the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) it would hire a "full-time classifier" to examine programs before they go to air after it was found that it breached regulatory codes several times in the past year.
Earlier this year, Foxtel programs Cathouse, The Wonderful World of Sex and Naked Wild On were found to have had too much "sexual content and/or nudity" for an MA15+ rating.

Does anyone else think we are really turning into a nanny state? Why is it that violence and murder are perfectly fine but nudity and sex is a big no no?

Those shows were on at around midnight, hardly childrens viewing time - plus they were fun to watch :p

And I don't think such shows were on channels that were part of the Basic Package.
If I want to see it going in, so to speak, why is that such a big deal?
So a show called Naked Wild On has too much nudity.Gee,the title wasn't a giveaway as to what the show contains [or doesn't contain ;)]

Naked Wild On is awesome. I agree that as it is pay tv then people should be able to watch what they want.
A bit stupid considering how much R rated porn I have seen on Showtime over the years.

Flick over to SBS and you're bound to get tits or vag within 5 seconds.
I assume Foxtel are copping it rather than SBS because the religious right have never watched SBS for more than 5 seconds because there's too many non white people on it. If only they knew.

World Movies showed shortbus the other week. It's got all those other shows well covered.

Those shows aren't even that bad, definitely within the confines of an MA rating. Just tame nudity and sexual references, not to mention being on at about midnight.
Oh how many times I got busted watching these shows when I was a kid haha. They just showed the odd boob, no big deal.

It used to be worse. Every Friday night they used to show soft-core movies, and from what I hear, they were full-on.
Also, what are Foxtel going to do about their Adults-Only PPV channel?

It was flat out R rated porn movies, exactly the same as proper porn but no vag or schlong shots complete with terrible cheesy acting which had no purpose beyond a lead in to the next bout of sex.
Whats the problem with this if the shows are on at an appropiate time? Jfc. There certainly shouldn't be any children watching at these times and why would all these right wing whingers be watching a Pay TV channel at these odd hours of the morning? Like those people who used to watch The Chaser just to complain about it.
I think it has Pot.Kettle.Black written all over it myself. Then again, that pretty much sums up the entire Christian religion.

I saw a few of those on showtime late at night a few years back. The acting was very cheesy, but I guess that was not the focus.

Uh.. Dont know? Isnt one of the new channels a gay one? I think the problem with these programs is that they're on the comedy channel.. Need to be on an adult type channel so worried parents can block it out.
