According to afl.com.au, Brisbane are set to go into the match on Saturday, minus both McDonald and Keating, whilst Brown, Notting, Lappin, Pike and Scott are in doubt due to a lack of match fitness. Suddenly our chances of winning are even greater than previously thought.

No, our chances of getting raped by less than 15 goals are greater than previously thought.

We could spring a surprise - we haven't lost a 1st round game in about 5 years, so stranger things could happen.

Without Fletch, we are found wanting down back. And without Bolts............well.........:D

If we get away with a less than 15 point loss, its a win. I just hope its not a blow out like last year.

And I wonder what sort of reaction the crowd will give when they unveil the 2002 premiership flag - will they dare put up the 2001 flag next to it? Talk about some incentive for the Essendon players!:D :D

Well the only think round 1 will confirm for the Dons, is that they have already made two ruckman unheard of into supertars after their match winning performance against us. Isnt always the way with 1st gamers and Essendond? Dont we love making superstars out of duds!

Allow me to tell you right now, Jamie Charman is a fine ruckman, definitely no dud. He is a mile ahead of Hille at around the same age and I will be surprised if he doesn't firstly beat our rucks on Saturday and secondly have a very good year. One of the best young rucks going around that kid.

Having the Lions first-up my not be too bad. And even if it is, at least that trip's over and done with.

sheeds will have the boys fired up regardless.. i only hope the players have more self belief than some of the fans round here, cause going into a game thinking a 15 point loss is a win, will see the bombers beaten by alot more.

i think we can do it! :D

And we only had half a bloody team in for that game!

Thinking of taking a piece of the $4.35 Eskander is offering for a win.......anything can happen in round one!

But we had a full team on GF day.

There shouldn't be any pressure on the boys to win this game. Nobody expects it. Are we really at $4.35 for this?

I don't believe there is any specific reason for Brisbane to get fired up about this game right now, other than it being Round 1. The worst thing anyone can do is give them a reason. So there better not be any "no rules" crap this time (at least in a verbal context). Sheeds should keep his damn mouth shut, and let whatever happens happen.

On TAB Essendon are at $4.75 and Brisbane are at $1.15..

Ouch.. Well i dont expect we will win this match but it will be interesting to see how the new recruits will play... GO THE DONS!

Sheedy keep his mouth shut??

I'd like to see the odds for THAT!

Anyway, i dont mind it if sheeds gets his face on the papers again for talking garbage, its good for the game, esp in the northen states. The general populus proly dont even realise that the season is starting this week up there, any publisity would be good.

Sheedy should think before he talks more often. He's great for publicity but some of the stuff he dribbles out of his mouth is just pathetic. I don't think he can say anything that will get the bombers over the line this week.

Even though Brisbane are without their first 2 ruckman I don't think you can touch them. Essendon's ruck stocks aren't that flash either.

Brisbane will win by 50 points, if not more.
