Only going to play 20- and 40-over games.
Their argument is that SA are No 1 in the world, and they don't play the 50-over game.
God I hate Twenty20 Cricket.
Get rid of that instead.
That means we won the last one, yay.

I've been saying that 50 over cricket should be trimmed to 40 overs. Imo there is merit to this idea if the future of ODI cricket is going to be salvaged.

This!
Seems pretty weird to be getting rid of the 50 over matches but keep the 40 over format alive when 50 overs is still the format used in ODIs.
Having said that something needs to be done to make one day cricket interesting again and maybe 40 over matches are the answer.

40-over cricket is a much shorter game than 50-over. When the counties started it, they even restricted the bowlers run-ups (15m I think).
2 x 2-hour innings. Start at 3 - finish at 7:10. Perfect. Plus a great TV product.
It's all about the money - crowds and TV.

So ODI's are about to die. So much much for the dream of watching Australia win the world cup final on Australian soil at the MCG.
