Nat-Rat has performed very well since the drug incident a few weeks back. I just love his attack on the ball and his willingness to make mistakes in order take the game on. I have serious man love for this guy. He has responded in the best way possible; on the field.

Also made a lovely mark in the 2nd half I think?
I don't remember whether it was goal-saving or goal-scoring though.

At the start of the year he wouldn't of been in many best 22's and thought as a possible de-listee for this year, but he has been awesome, especially his aggression and run.

Whether he will be apart of our next premiership team i'm not sure but he has been very good.

been excellent. been channeling his agression at the ball rather than the man too, which helps.

hehe lots of man love indeed, i rekon the coaching staff have told him he has the pace and given him the go to take the game on. Important player for us at the moment, and he showed Campbell Brown a thing or to (NatRat did some boxing outside AFL) his no slouch in that department. Great thread.

He deserved games at the start of the year but the coaching staff decided to go youth and untried kids.

It backfired and since he's been in the side he's been a solid contributor pretty much every game.

Most on this board wanted him gone at the end of the year but he's just helped us into finals. :thumbsu:

He had a few shockers leading up to the incident (which is a joke btw and the overly harsh charges will be dropped once the real cases get underway) but it gave him a good shake up and he has acted like a true professional ever since. He's kept his temper in check and has attacked the ball putting his body on the line every week since.

I think he did really well in his few stints in the middle against Hawthorn and wouldn't be surprised if he is rotated through there more frequently. He's got the tank, the body and the balls to win the tough contests and with some intesive work at this over the preseason I could see him adding another great part to his game.

Another reason to praise the legend that is Nat-Rat as I believe he was responsible for this;

He's that x-factor that we need. I think I've said it before but when you go and pick your best 18 or 22 it can be hard to fit him in because he doesn't stand out in any one position, but he can just about play any position on the ground and influence a result with not a great deal of possessions, so is easily in our best 22.

He seems to stand up when things aren't going our way quite a bit too. Great quality. From reports he's a bit of a leader around the club too.

He's been our only player not to play a bad game over the last six weeks.

The off field is a worry, still scratching my head over the search in his place. The constabulary always need some pretty good evidence to get a magistrate to sign off before they do they do a search warrant.

He has improved but still missed targets or resorts to 'safe kicks'. Didn't anyone notice the two or three times in the first half he shirked at contests instead of going in for a hard ball get? There are reasons why he didn't get games at the start of the year which I still believe are quite evident in him.
We are looking to grow a side into a flag contender, he is not a player which fits into this.
Do me a favour and actually watch him through a game and look at how he attacks a ball when it hits the deck or compare his attack on the ball to watson, hocking etc.
Also notice his disposal from a mark when he doesn't play on. When he takes the game on he does some positives for the side but these are few and far between.

No one attacked the hard ball better than NLM in the second half.

Hurley did a great job finishing, but NLM's committment to the contest and Stanton's ability to run hard were massive factors in our win.

NLM has played damn well since the Drugs fiasco IMO.

Just imagine how well he would have played if they found a bag of pills ! LOL

A lot of players did, NLM shirked at MANY contests.

A lot of players did, NLM shirked at MANY contests.I didn't see any.

I've seen the game three times now, and I wasn't looking for it, but NLM was definitely putting his body on the line in every contest he was in.

Great game from him.

Agree with this. NLM, as mentioned, has been one of the few to have done this consistently over the past severalweeks, including our losses. I'm liking him in the midfield.

Examples please cause I didn't see him shirk any.

The only thing I can think of is the one or two times he couldn't get to a contest and impact because he was too fatigued.

I've never been a huge supporter of his (quite the opposite in fact), but he's been impressive this year.

He still has the ability to make some of the most staggeringly atrocious decisions on the field, but his attack on the ball, and in general his play has been first class all year.

Quote of the day about NLM after the stoush with Slapper Brown.

"NLM has the best pair of Dukes pound for pound going around in the league at the moment "

Would like to see him more in the midfield to shake things up for me..
